(( Holodeck 3, Deck 222, Deep Space 224 ))

Genkos glanced over at Yogan, who was examining them all, PADD in hand. The doctor was helping another patient to his feet as they evacuated the sickbay.

Adea: ::quietly:: So you going to give us a hand, or are you just going to stand there?

Yalu: I am just going to stand here. ::glances at PADD:: Two minutes.

Across the ‘bay, Ensign Jones emerged from the CMO’s office with a Kelpien in tow. Genkos could hear, underneath everything else, the tell tale sounds of escape pods being launched. He hoped there would be enough for them all.

Jones: How are we looking? We've got about 90 seconds left in here, or we won't have time to get off the ship.

As Genkos go the last officer out of the room, he turned around and saw that they had managed to clear precious little of the bay. Some idiots seemed to be milling around, disgraces to their uniforms, or possibly just programmed to act that way…

Yalu: ::nods:: Some of the ambulatory patients are Starfleet officers. Give them clear directions. Put those who can to work helping us evacuate.

Nearby, Jovenan came to the rescue of a patient with a bloody leg who wasn’t making it very far on her own.

Jovenan: ::to patient:: I’ll help you.

Jones took Yogan’s advice and addressed the clot of patients who still remained in Sickbay.

Jones: We've got to go. Now. If you've got a broken arm, minor head wound, or any other injury that I'm sure hurts, but is not life threatening, you need to get up and move now. We can treat you once we're off the ship.

Yogan checked his PADD. The number of rescued shot up. The logjam at the door cleared and the SNAP—WHOOSH of the launching pods quickened. There was another pod launching every couple seconds. That was good news, but there was always the possibility that the last pod would launch without them. Genkos kinda hoped it did.

Jones: ::to the non-holographic people:: We need to go now. There's nothing else we can do.

Adea: Sure thing.

Yalu: Lead the way, Ensigns.

Yogan knelt beside a biobed to allow a holographic child to climb piggyback onto him. Jovenan and Jones dealt with patients of their own, stumbling and struggling under the weight of their charges. Genkos slipped his arm around one last patient.

Jovenan: ::to herself and patient:: Just ::breathing hard:: a little more…

Jones: ::from behind Jovenan:: You've got this, Jo.

Adea: How far is it?

He knew, but wondered if any of the others did.

Yalu: Just a few metres more.

Yogan reached the hatch and allowed the child to slide down into the arms of a crewman, who promptly placed her in the pod. Jones directed Genkos attention to the still unconscious Kelpien.

Jones: Doc, pull him into the pod and get the sequence started.

Genkos slipped into the pod, then lifted the Kelpien into the escape pod, then started the release sequence. He was tempted to slowly lower the doors to give Hiro a dramatic moment, seeing as he was so enthusiastic, but decided against it.

Computer: =/\= Hull breach imminent =/\=

Jones and Jovenan tumbled through the hatch. The door bolted into place behind them. Genkos gave them both a grim smile. He wasn’t sure they’d done their best work, and he jumped when Yogan knocked on the door.

Yalu: =/\= Computer, end simulation. =/\=

The blackness of space vanished and all that remained in the room were four officers. Yogan tapped his PADD against his knuckles and gave everyone a proud nod.

Yalu: Congratulations, everyone. You’ve completed Evacuation Training Simulation 41-Alpha. Your department chief and executive officer will receive an abstract of your results once the evaluation is complete. Does anyone have any questions?

Jones / Jovenan: response (if desired)

Yogan pocketed his PADD. No longer speaking as an operations officer conducting a training, he softened his tone and posture to something a bit less formal. Genkos gave him a wry smile.

Yalu: Hopefully, you’ll never need to evacuate a ship under such extreme conditions. However, emergency exercises like these do remind us that the biggest test is often inside our minds. You’ve all performed your duties admirably under adverse circumstances.

Jones / Jovenan: response (if desired)

Yalu: You’re all free to go. Enjoy your time on DS224. I hope to see you all again soon.

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
