((Bridge, USS Excalibur - A))
A distress beacon had made itself
known and Kali was both filled with hope and filled with dread all at the same time. At the moment, there were too many possibilities to consider, but some of them were decidedly dark. She turned her attention to the task at hand and did her best not to give
quarter to any of the scenarios spooling up in her mind.
Nicholotti: What is the source? Set a course, yellow alert.
Responses didn't take long to come
in.
Romjin: Aye, Commodore.
Adea: How soon until we can beam it aboard?
Bean: Getting a fix on it. ::beat, tap tap:: This is weird. Hang on, dudes. Confirming. ::beat, tap
tap:: Yup, it’s official. The beacon is operating on an old Maquis frequency. Altering course to intercept.
Romjin: Recommend we approach with extreme caution.
The warning was one Kali fully intended
on heeding, and yet, they had no choice but to go after whatever it was. The beacon seemed linked to the missing crew members, but then again...
Daniels / Kijana: response
Bean: If it’s Makenzakora… ::beat:: But this is just a beacon. It could be a trap.
Romjin: It could indeed.
Kali was on her feet, watching the
screen as if she could make the entire process go faster just by boring through it with her crystalline eyes. She halted the panic inducing stories that she could build based on what little they knew, and fell back on what they knew. Unfortunately, it wasn't
much.
Adea: Perhaps I should take Kijana and Romjin, take a look at this beacon in person, once we’ve beamed
it aboard?
Perhaps there was something there.
She looked back at her acting first officer.
Nicholotti: Make it happen.
Daniels / Kijana: response
Bean: I’ve got a lock. Beaming it into Cargo Bay One.
Like a well oiled machine, everything
started to come togther and suddenly it was aboard.
Romjin: Beacon secured.
She turned to Adea once more, forcing
herself towards her seat as he stood.
Nicholotti: Let me know what you
find, and I'll do the same.
Adea/Daniels / Kijana: response
With a nod, she let them off to
do their jobs and looked out at the screen in the meantime. For all the flurry the beacon had caused, there didn't seem to be much else happening.
Nicholotti: What's out there? Where
is the ship this came from? What are we not seeing?
Bean/Daniels: Responses?
At that point, a comm line broke
into the chatter.
Jovenan:
=/\= Response? =/\=
Kali placed the voice and the face
from the briefing not long ago.
Nicholotti: =/\= Go ahead, Ensign.
What do you have?=/\=
Jovenan:

Bean/Daniels: Responses?
