Ensign Jovenan – This place is kinda cool

Jovenan: I haven’t had my new crew member’s medical examination done yet. If you or anyone in your department had the time, I’d like to request one.

Right after Jovenan had made her request, the CMO leaned in and pulled a medical tricorder from his drawer. 

Adea: I’m more than happy to do that for you.

Jovenan had expected the high-ranking officer to be busier than that and merely assign her an appointment on another date, or to order one of the other doctors or nurses to conduct the evaluation, but instead he was already limping around the table. She was mildly surprised, but positively so; better get this done with now, right?  

Adea: So, settling in nicely, are we Jovenan?

Jovenan: Well, uh, the past few days have been quite hectic, Commander. There hasn’t been much opportunity for settling in or making friends. I haven’t actually met anyone on this ship but you, sir, and Commander Etan, Lieutenant Seta and ::tries to remember the name:: that one intelligence officer, briefly. And Doctor Gott, too.

Jovenan tried stay still as the Commander waved the tricorder near her head. After he was done, she let out a breath. 

Adea: Please, in my office you can call me Genkos. Doctor if you must, but Commander or Sir make me a little… twitchy. ::he smiled and looked down at the tricorder:: So, before I see it on here, anything you want to tell me about?

She nodded to the Commander’s – Genkos’ – request regarding how to address him. She paused for a few seconds to ponder which parts of her medical history were important to mention.

Jovenan: I think I’ve been healthy, recently… unless we count the taco viruses, of course, and they didn’t cause me any symptoms. Otherwise, nothing. Well, I’ve felt a bit chilly all the time, but I guess that’s just because the Edo have a slightly higher preferred temperature than humans or whoever gets to set the standard here. It wasn’t any different in the Academy, either.

Adea: Response

Jovenan: Vulcans and Cardassians must be freezing here. For me it’s just a minor issue.

She waited for the Doctor to review the results.

Adea: Response

Jovenan: Th – That won’t be a problem, right?
