The ebb and flow of the crowd revealed the other Vulcan in the crew. Unlike Sirok and Alieth, composed and imperturbable, he flashed a broad smile on his face and held a glass of something obviously alcoholic.

Alieth: Have you had the chance to talk to Lieutenant Lovar?

Greaves:  :Shaking his head:: Nope. He’s with science right?

Alieth: nodding briefly:: I met him shortly after the arrival of Fleet Captain Kells.

She made a small pause, before she added, staring at Sirok.

Alieth: He seems to be one of those who march under the raptor’s wings

Sirok: In a way, yes.

Wes frowned, confused and a little worried by the comments.

Greaves:  Are you suggesting he’s a Romulan sympathiser?

Alieth: Not at all, Mister Greaves. Only that his adherence to Surak's teachings is merely non-existent. Almost heretical, I might say.

There was no concern, animosity or hatred in the doctor's words. She was merely pointing out a fact. In addition, there were notable cases of Romulans impersonating Vulcans in order to facilitate their entry into the Starfleet, thus avoiding the connotations of their real species.

Sirok: It has nothing to do with Lovar's sympathy for the Romulans. We do not even know if he supports the unification. ::Sirok did believe that the unification was correct, and after Romulus' destruction was also necessary.

Sirok:  It appears to be a V'tosh ka'tur. Vulcans without logic, or who try to accompany his with feelings. But it is something tremendously dangerous for him and for the people around him.

Greaves:  ::Still frowning:: I won’t pretend to understand the inner workings of the teaching of Surak, but why would it be dangerous to him and others?  My understanding is that one of the fundamental differences between your species and Romulans is the divide from practicing the teachings which led to the split and subsequent generational genetic differences.  Romulans, as demonstrated by the Romulan Republic and others are not inherently dangerous.

Sirok: The Romulans practice a certain kind of restriction of feelings, perhaps not so much for following logic as for keeping their secrets. But if you compare Romulan and Vulcan society, it is easy to see that it is much more brutal.

Alieth: Mr Greaves, emotional suppression is not just a philosophical consideration, it is a matter of necessity.

Alieth shifted her weight from one foot to the other, visibly uneasy. There were certain things that Vulcans didn't discuss with off-worlders

Alieth: Our ancestors almost destroyed both us and our world before they adopted the teachings of Surak. That should be enough for you to know that one of our own who is driven by his basic instincts is, to say the least, concerning

Greaves:  :smirking::If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were visibly uncomfortable… message received though, I’ll drop it and just acknowledge Lieutenant Lovar is not your average Vulcan.

Sirok: I must still say that his performance on the mission was correct.

Alieth remained silent, staring at her full glass for a few minutes. Finally, she stepped forward and placed it on the nearest table. After all, she had little interest in sampling its contents.

It was obvious that Lieutenant Lovar’s mannerisms were disconcerning to the two.  With the conversation taking on a much more serious tone than Wes’ buzz was happy with, he decided to change the topic.

Greaves:  You know who I don’t see here yet?  One of our fellow junior officers. Where’s Tara?
