((Corridor - Deck 325, Voth Generation Ship Igirni - Delta Quadrant))

With the communication department close by they really didn’t have all that many options to avoid a potential confrontation. There were only so many hallways they could take.

Verrla: There are only a couple of routes to the communication department from here. One of them may take us around them, but it depends on what direction they’re moving in. That also does not preclude there being other groups along the way. Stealth will be required in any rate.

Avariswal: You seem to think that your own people might be hostile towards us?

Mensah: Response

Drex: We're unarmed, ::He said, gesturing toward the corridor from which the Voth would soon emerge.:: I can't say the same about them. We don't know why there was a shooting on the other bridge, and we don't know what's happening with Captain Adea. The truth is, we know nothing. If we can reach the communications center, we'll finally start getting some answers.

Avariswal: Although some seemed to carry weapons in the decks above us, you seem convinced these are hostile too. I can’t help but notice that might be related to what happened earlier. Is there something you are not telling us? Something that happened before we came?

Verrla was losing her patience with the so-called diplomacy officer’s blatant hostility. She was uncertain where it was coming from as she didn’t think she’d done anything wrong.

Verrla: ::Hissing:: I have no idea what is going on. All I know is that Voth were fighting and killing other Voth after whatever caused us all to black out and much of the ship’s systems to go haywire, and that as the party that is responsible for your people being aboard the Igirni it is my duty to ensure that you make it off the Igirni with ideally as little harm coming to your people as possible. I am doing my best to make sure that happens and would appreciate that you just stop as it’s not helping.

Mensah : Response

The tricorder's alarm grew more insistent.

Drex: Elder, they're his people. ::His gaze flicked down the empty passage, then back to the group, his nervousness more palpable.:: But if we want to avoid them, we have to move now.

Verrla nodded, making a snap decision.

Verrla: We should take this path ::She pointed down a hallway:: to avoid running into the other group.

Avariswal / Mensah  : Response

Before they could move on, footsteps could be heard coming towards them growing louder and louder as their window of opportunity closed right in front of their eyes. When the eight Voth emerged from the end of the corridor, Verrla froze at the sight.

They did not move right, their clothing was as foreign to her people as the Starfleet Officers’ had been, they smelled wrong and they looked at her with barely concealed hostility like she was a stranger. On a ship with this large a population, there was no way she could know every person who lived aboard, but she knew deep in her bones these Voth were not her people. A fact that brought up so many more questions; questions that did not have good answers.

Two of them stepped into the open first. Their heads snapped up immediately as they registered the group, and their weapons came up a second later.

Voth soldier: Stop. Do not move

Verrla raised her hands with caution and hoped that the others would do so as well to prevent bloodshed.

Drex: We have no weapons. We are not a threat.

Verrla: Where are the people that work here?

She could only hope that they had fled than been captured. At the very least the lack of bodies gave her the hope that they were still alive.

Avariswal / Mensah  : Response

One in the back snorted with annoyance and pushed his way past the others to get to the front. She did not like the look in his eye. This one would kill if given the excuse.

Drex: Who are you?

Verrla: ::With a calm she had long since lost:: Do forgive our ignorance. Your uniform is strange and lacks the usual indications of rank.

Avariswal / Mensah  : Response

Tobrak: I am the one giving orders. ::pointing to Mensah:: You are outnumbered and outgunned. Stand down. Now.

Verrla: ::Strained:: Do what he says please.

oO This one wants bloodshed. Please, please, please do not give him the excuse he so desperately wants. Oo

She knew there were species with the ability to send mental messages to others, and she now desperately wished in the moment that the Voth were one of them.

Drex / Avariswal / Mensah: Response

The brute turned to her and gave her a low bow, but Verrla felt no respect from the gesture.

Tobrak: Elder. I am Tobrak, Security advisor to Chief Minister Zishi. I have orders to bring you to the him, please follow me. Your friends can remain here...

She swallowed. Zishi was a common Voth name, but she knew of no minister who possessed it. It meant they were dealing with a population of Voth outside the Igirni though she was uncertain if these people were from another Voth splinter group like she was or they were from the home territory. She wasn’t certain which one she preferred as neither option was all that likely.

She glanced at Drex, trying to glean his opinion on the matter and failing, before returning to Tobrak.

Verrla: You do have me at a disadvantage. I have not heard of a Cheif Minister named Zishi. To which people is he the chief minister of?

A delaying tactic, one that she hoped would give herself and the others time to figure a way out of this situation.

Drex / Avariswal / Mensah / Tobrak : Response

Verrla: The others are officers of the Federation and were invited here by the Igirni’s Council of Elders. Therefore they are under my protection. If they were to remain here while I left with you, could you guarantee that they would remain unharmed and able to return to their ship unmolested.

She really didn’t have much confidence that the brute’s word was worth even the air expelled to say it, but she wasn’t certain what else she could do. She had no confidence that she could request that they bring the others with her to meet this Zishi, nor could she say that would even be a good idea.
