Genkos broke his gaze off Williams’ back and smiled slightly too broadly at the Andorian officer he was engaged in conversation with. He turned his body slightly so that he didn’t have to see Williams in his peripheral.

Adea: Still, we should try and enjoy ourselves. Have you had much of a chance to check out Bolarus?

Tholin’s antennae lifted slightly, which Genkos took as a good sign of the man’s emotional state. 

ch’Clex: Some. I had time to do a little exploring earlier. I found a Flabbjellah in one of the markets.

Tholin reached carefully beneath the fall of his ceremonial coat and drew out a slender instrument of dark blue-grey metal, and Genkos raised a brow. What on earth was it, some kind of flute? 

Adea: A flabjellah? 

ch’Clex: It required some tuning, but nothing I could not handle. You do not need to worry Captain the sidearm is deactivated.

He held it up so Genkos could see it more clearly. The Captain’s eyebrows raised up so high they could barely be seen in his flyaway hair. 

Adea: Sorry… the sidearm? What is this thing? A… flabjellah, you called it? 

ch’Clex: A Flabbjellah is a traditional Andorian sidearm. It is also a musical instrument most closely comparable to a flute.

That made sense - he knew the Andorians were fond of their weapons, but also of their culture. It made sense they would combine them both in such a beautiful object. 

ch’Clex: I will gladly show you how to play it, if you would like Captain?

Genkos shook his head softly and smiled at the officer. His pride was clear, but Genkos wouldn’t want to waste his time.

Adea: Ah, I am afraid my musical talent is barely visible through a microscope. ::he laughed:: But I would love to hear you play it some time, perhaps we can arrange a recital?

ch’Clex: Response

Genkos nodded, pushing back his hair slightly with one hand as the discussion triggered a memory.

Adea: A fellow officer on the Artemis gifted me an ushaan-tor when I left - with a dermal regenerator built into the handle. Is such multi-purpose weaponry common on Andoria?
