((ABOUT A WEEK LATER, The USS Eagle Outpost))
At first, Elor was puzzled. Why had the XO summoned him? He hadn't had much to do with Lieutenant Commander Adyr so far. They had crossed paths once or twice, exchanged friendly greetings, and that was it. Now she had summoned him and Ensign Favon.
He quickly concluded that it must have something to do with the meeting the captain had held with his senior officers. They hadn't been invited, so he hadn't assumed there would be any new assignments. But he was probably wrong about that.
He walked briskly through the alleys of the camp, which had now developed into a more or less established small village. They had settled in over the past few weeks, and since none of them knew how long they would be stuck here, many of them had tried to make their surroundings a little more homely.
Perhaps it was a bit exaggerated, but Elor himself could understand it well. They could be stuck here for months or years, if they were ever able to return at all. So why not make the best of it?
But first, he had to find out what Adyr wanted from him. In the distance, he could already see them waiting, in the shadow under an overhang between two buildings.
As he approached, he curiously eyed the Trill and the Vulcan woman at her side. He had not yet had any direct contact with Ensign Favon. To be completely honest, he avoided Vulcans whenever possible. Not because he had anything against them personally, but their emotionless nature had always made him feel uneasy, and he had always felt uncomfortable when he had to work with them, as they never missed an opportunity to point out his mistakes.
Letek: ::With a nod:: Commander... Ensign.
Adyr: Ensign Favon, Lieutenant Letek, I hope you are both up on your spy tactics.
Spy tactics? Sometimes Elor wondered whether people actually knew that he had studied medicine and was a doctor, and had not taken any tactical courses beyond basic training.
Letek: I wouldn't claim to be particularly well versed in espionage tactics.
Favon: Response?
Cayden only nodded slightly with the smallest hint of a smile.
Adyr: Lets pack light; we indeed may not be spies or spooks, but it's up to us to make this happen.
There wasn't much Elor could pack, because they had nothing but the bare essentials in the camp.
Letek: Give me five minutes and I'll pack a medical kit.
Favon: Response?
So it was settled then.
Adyr: Any last minute questions before we leave?
There were about a dozen questions racing through Elor's mind. Had the junior officers been invited to the meeting after all, and he just hadn't noticed? Were they being sent on a mission? He decided on the most important question.
Letek: Um... I don't want to seem unprofessional, but... where are we going?
Favon / Adyr: Response?
TAG / TBC
