((A secluded beach on Bolarus IX))

The sound of waves. Warm sunshine. Soft, warm sand beneath bare feet. For Elor, this was the very definition of therapy.
When you lived on a spaceship, cut off from any kind of weather, you usually didn’t realize you were missing it. The warm sun on your skin, the cooling rain, wind ruffling your hair, gray fog drenching everything in a twilight glow.
But you felt it all the more when you left the ship’s protective confines and walked barefoot along the beach, a bright, warming light in the sky, and you remembered again what it could be like.
Elor wasn’t usually the type to get cabin fever easily, and most of the time it was enough to go to the holodeck every now and then and ground himself in the artificially generated outside world.
But here and now, strolling along the beach of a world that was exotic to him, the endorphins in his body were dancing wildly.

He had taken the day off and had beamed down to the planet early that morning. First on the agenda was a leisurely stroll through the nearest town, combined with a hearty breakfast and short breaks during which he simply watched the hustle and bustle on the streets.
But as the sun rose high in the sky, he found himself drawn away from the bustling city to quieter surroundings.
So there he was, strolling along one of the planet’s many beaches, clad only in tropical-patterned swim trunks. He wasn’t entirely alone—here and there, a few Bolian people could be seen—but it was so peaceful that he could hardly stop sighing.

After he had covered quite a distance and his feet were starting to get tired from walking through the sand, he decided to set up camp there.
In his bag, along with the clothes he had taken off earlier, he had a large towel to spread out on and, of course, plenty of water and a few snacks.
He laid out his towel and staked his claim on the beach, then settled down contentedly and stretched out.
Of course, he had already taken care of adequate UV protection before leaving, so now he just needed to close his eyes and let himself drift away. Time didn’t matter, and for a while he would be able to put all his obligations, worries, and tension aside.

But the peace didn't last long.
When the sun suddenly stopped shining on his skin and warming it, he opened his eyes and looked around to see what had happened.
Someone was standing in front of his towel, blocking the angle of the incoming sunlight. Because his visitor had the sun at his back, he couldn’t make out who was standing there in front of him.
He raised his hand to shield his eyes a little, and then he recognized the silhouette.

Letek: Commander! I was just wondering who turned off the light.

Drex: Response?

Elor sat up from his reclining position and was grateful that Drex stepped aside slightly, allowing him to look the first officer straight in the face without seeing only his outline.

Letek: An entire planet, and we meet on this remote beach. What are the odds?

Drex: Response?

Elor shifted slightly to the side and patted the now-empty spot next to him.

Letek: Why don’t you sit down and keep me company? Or do you have other plans?

Drex: Response?
