((Sickbay - USS Eagle-A))

How quickly everything could return to its usual rhythm. Just yesterday, Elor was lying on a beach somewhere on Bolarus IX, letting the sun shine on his skin, which he thought was far too pale, and embarking on a little treasure hunt.
Today he was already back at the infirmary, tending to the crew, who, despite not being on a mission at the moment, were coming and going in a steady stream.
He had just finished treating one patient when the next one was already standing before him.
Lieutenant Commander Drex, his fellow treasure hunter, had wandered in and was apparently next on his treatment list.

Letek: Mister Drex. I hope I can say ‘nice to see you’ and that you’re not here because of an illness or injury.

Drex: Mister is not something I hear often. ::His expression turning into something closer to dry amusement.:: I am here for the scheduled check-up. Nothing urgent.

Letek: ::With an apologetic grin:: Sorry. I thought “Commander” was too formal under the circumstances, but just “Drex” might have been a little too... casual?... Anyway, please feel free to take a seat on the biobed.

There were certainly plenty of protocols regarding who was supposed to address whom on the ship. “Mister” was definitely something you could use in this situation. Of course, “Commander” would have been correct too, but somehow... the protocols didn’t really address the personal relationships among the crew members.
If ch’Clex were standing before him, Elor would have had no qualms about addressing him by his first name. But Drex wasn’t just… a friend? …he was also the ship’s first officer and thus two positions above him, and he was also of higher rank than Elor.
Elor would have to think this question over in detail once more.

The Bajoran reached for his PADD and pulled up Drex’s medical file.
Sure enough, he had an appointment.

Drex: I assume this will not take long. ::He adjusted slightly, then added, with a faint, almost reluctant honesty::  There may be a minor... side effect from Bolarus. Nothing serious. Just poor judgment regarding sunlight.

Elor gave his Denobulan friend a thorough once-over and raised an eyebrow appraisingly.

Letek: And I thought you’d been bitten by a Bolarian rain-mosquito. That explains why your skin has such a red glow, of course. Too much sun, I suppose?

Elor set the PADD aside and turned to face his patient.

Drex: I was... a little careless. It was not exactly part of the plan. Falling asleep, I mean. I had every intention of being far more responsible.

Elor shook his head with feigned disappointment, though he couldn’t help but let a small smile slip.

Letek: It’s a shame none of the medical staff warned you about this. Now we’re in a real pickle.

Drex: Response?

He motioned for Drex to lie down before activating the scanner.

Letek: Before we get started on treating the sunburn, let’s first check if everything else is in place and looks normal.

Drex: Response?

The scanning unit slid out from the table and moved into position, while Elor began documenting the sunburn.

Letek: Are there any other problems? Any aches and pains you’d like to tell me about?

Drex: Response?

Elor listened and nodded to show he understood, then activated the scanner. The monotonous hum filled the room while Elor loaded the appropriate medication for the sunburn into the hypospray.
