Kettick:
I have... the bare foundations to survive a discussion on the topic,
since most of it does not directly apply to my species. Remmilians have a
rather narrow emotional spectrum compared to yours, :: he flicked his
facial feelers amusedly :: as you may have noticed. Although I suspect
the subject is under-investigated rather than inexistant.
Doctor Lim tilted her head sideways in that interestingly Remmilian-like way.
Lim: Would you want it investigated further? I imagine someone would be interested in researching it.
The insectoid pondered the question for a second or two before nodding.
Kettick: That would be appreciable. Most of us join the Federation as workers and never see combat, but we have a significant number of unattached males in the Marines as well. Not to mention :: he gestured towards himself with an amused click :: the odd officer like yours truly.
Stapledon: Response
Lim: ::Hedging:: It might require you being the main subject depending on how willing your people would be in cooperating.
That got an evasive shuddering of the Engineer's facial feelers, until he caught himself and added the corresponding hand gesture.
Kettick: Given my history, I am not quite sure I count as a representative specimen of Remmilian male anymore... fake human persona crammed into my head and all. But I would be glad to assist however I can.
Stapledon/Lim: Response
Kettick: Right, you have to take into account that as far as Remmilians are concerned, males and females might as well be two different species. Our society has evolved by leaps and bounds since we decided to join the Federation, but you do not erase centuries of a biologically enforced caste system in a couple generations without a species-wide genetic alteration program that we have been unwilling to undertake so far. But that's a completely separate discussion.
