((Briefing Lean-To, The USS Eagle Outpost))

They had probably been trapped on this unknown planet for a little over a week. At least the team had managed to find the others, and by now the Eagle crew and the El-Aurians had set up something resembling a camp. It was primitive and lacked any comfort, but they had a roof over their heads, enough supplies to keep them from starving or dying of thirst, and, of course, protection from the outside world.

However, their goal was not to build a comfortable life here, but still to get off this planet and return to the Federation. The ship was destroyed, but since a Q had had a hand in it, Elor didn't want to give up hope just yet. He had read enough stories about this race to know that when a Q interferes, absolutely nothing is certain except chaos.

Captain Adea had now called them all together to discuss the next steps in their escape from this planet.

Adea: Right, thank you all. It’s not been an easy time, but you’ve excelled yourselves at survival. But now we have to start thinking seriously about how to get home. To that end, Commander Adyr and I have come up with a cunning plan, or at least part of one.

Elor slumped his shoulders. He had been full of hope that Adea would now come up with a complicated but entirely feasible plan. But if he hadn't even managed to come up with a complete plan, only part of one, their chances looked slim.

Adea: First things first, we need to get off this planet, and find the rest of the Federation, if it even exists. To that end, Commander Adyr will lead a team to ::he flipped open a tricorder and projected the map they had:: this location. It looks like it might once upon a time have been a small ship depot of some kind, possibly Starfleet. However, it has fallen into the clutches of someone we know only as Taammir; they appear to be attached to something called “the Emerald Chain”. Adyr, your job will be to infiltrate this depot, and recover us a ship, or ships, that can get us off world en masse. Braya, you’ll be joining her as you’ve flown over the depot, and you’re a pilot. You might need to do some tinkering to get it started, so take Tanner with you as well.

Adyr / Braya / Tanner: Response?

That was probably the best part of the plan. If they had the chance to get hold of a few ships, then they might be able to leave this planet.

Adea: Commander Falt; we’ve discovered a huge chunk of the Proust Station managed to survive entering the atmosphere and is possibly a great mine of resources for us. Be careful, however, as Jashkaa, Oromis and the rest of the last team I sent there haven’t returned… ::he let out a sigh:: or replied to hails. You’ll be taking Favon and Frex, as well as Professor Numerdor - he will know what’s survived best.

Falt straightened up at the sound of his name.

Frex: It looks like we've got a clear path to get there. It'd take us the better part of what makes up a day on this planet. So, since it's getting close to sunset, we'd better be off.

Elor looked over at the ensign in surprise. He hadn't met him before, but was impressed by his self-confidence. If this had been his first meeting, he certainly wouldn't have taken the reins so directly. Elor decided to give him an encouraging smile.

Falt: Agreed, Ensign. The lizards will be less active at night and we want to reach the wreckage tomorrow with plenty of daylight to search for the others. ::turning to Adea:: Since this is a search and rescue mission I'm going to ask Gunny Hesan to join us given her expertise.

Favon: Response?

Adea nodded, leaving Falt to assume he had no objection to their plan.

Adea: Commander Williams, we think we’ve detected a Federation distress signal due north of here. I want you to take ch’Clex, Lim and Drex and find who it is, then bring them home.

Lim: Sir.

Williams: Aye, Sir. W’ll make sure we get them in time!

ch’Clex: ::antennae angled forward:: Understood, Commander.

Drex: Response?

Finally, their CO turned to Kettick, who looked as non-plussed at their situation as only the Remmilian could.

Adea: Commander Kettick; there’s an independent market town to the southwest. I want you to head there with Buccheri and Letek; although we aren’t familiar with the technology of this time, we’re going to need to get so real quick. So go there, and see what you can barter us. Ops has already put together a hoversled of things we can possibly trade, so take that with you.

Kettick: Sir.

Letek: Aye.

Buccheri: Response?

Elor looked at Buccheri, who was apparently human, with curiosity. He hadn't met him yet either, but was looking forward to having a tactical officer at his side. Together with Kettick's explosive power, Elor would probably be as safe as one could be on this planet. And a trip to the market sounded much more pleasant than raiding a ship depot occupied by some sect or following a distress signal.

Adea: I’ll be staying here with Doctor Thalor and the rest of our medical team - we still have plenty of wounded to be looking after, and that’s where I’m needed best. Go in good faith, and remember - don’t let on that we’re here from the past - if the Department of Temporal Investigations exists in this part of the galaxy, I don’t want to get on their bad side.

With a final nod from Adea the briefing was over and Kettick turned to his new team.

Kettick: Gentlemen. Let us see what Ops has set aside for us.

Elor grinned at the thought of what Ops had cobbled together for them.

Letek: Probably a vehicle with a wooden frame, large stone wheels, powered by our bare feet.

Buccheri: Response?

The Remmilian started walking towards the Ops warehouse.

Kettick: I would suggest we start observing from afar for a while; just to get a feeling of the place. The First Directive may be dead and buried as far as this mission is concerned, but I would rather not find out that the locals are fresh out of a bloody war with the Xindi, and shoot at anything with an exoskeleton.

Letek: So much for my idea of a leisurely stroll through the market.

Buccheri: Response?

Kettick: We know that they have radio, and that there is a ship depot on the planet that has been in service at some point but seems to be abandoned right now. As far as anything else is concerned... they might see our salvaged tech as caveman junk or thay may roll around in vehicles made of tree trunks and pulled by dinosaurs for all we know.

Since Williams was assigned to another team and Kettick was known to be rather dry in his approach, it now fell to Elor to be the optimist of the group. Of course, he would leave this task to the newcomer if he agreed to do so.

Letek: Or we'll be welcomed warmly, offered a cup of tea, and be able to make some good trades. But you're right, it's probably best if we tread carefully.

Buccheri / Kettick: Response?

Before they could leave, Elor wanted to at least introduce himself to the new crew member.

Letek: ::Extending his hand to Buccheri:: I'm Elor. One of the doctors on the USS Eagle. Nice to meet you.

Buccheri / Kettick: Response?
