Kettick clicked his mandibles in amusement.

Kettick: I'm perfectly fine with less downtime. Waiting for the front half of my exoskeleton to regrow last time was quite inconvenient, if I have to be honest. And I suppose you have better things to do during this well-deserved shore leave.

Letek: Don’t worry, I’ll still have plenty of free time to take a trip to the beach on Bolarus IX. But okay, let’s get started.

The Remmilian adopted a more comfortable position as the doctor prepared his tools. Nos that Letek mentioned it, some time in the sun and fresh air sounded lovely.

Letek: First, we’ll start with the irradiation.

The Chief Engineer gave an approving noise and a thumb up to indicate his continued consent.

Letek: Watch out, this might tingle a little.

Kettick: Acknowledged.

It did, in fact, tingle a little. Mostly during the regeneration process, which Kettick was still curious about. His chitin did not normally regenerate, which meant that the machine was actively re-knitting the biological polymer instead of just supercharging his natural healing. But was the matter pulled from somewhere else in his body, or replicated? He should really make a note of looking up the schematics one of these days, he kept forgetting otherwise.

A cheerful beep indicated that the procedure was complete.

Letek: Like new. And even if it disappoints you a little: completely tentacle-free.

Kettick: :: Deadpan :: I will endeavour to survive normality until the next time.

Setting the equipment aside, doctor Letek took a step back so Kettick could stand up again.

Letek: If there’s nothing else, I hereby release you to your free time. You should now be fully operational again.

The Remmilian gave his colleague a nod of gratitude.

Kettick: Appreciated. I look forward to seeing you in a more relaxed setting planetside.

The two men walked to the door and said their goodbyes, before retruning to their respective tasks.
And once more, Kettick forgot to write a note about the dermal generator.

NT / END
