Kim too wondered why Drex hadn't been interested in leaving its containment to swim in the waters.  However her analytical mind could think of a dozen scary potential reasons why it might not wish to and, additionally, why it might not like her to ask.

Stapledon:  Oh hey.

Gnai: Hello, sir.

The First Officer partially turned to welcome the woman.

Drex:  Good evening, Lieutenant. ::He bowed his head slightly, a polite smile curving his lips::

Stapledon:  Good to meet you outside of a...  dicey situation.  ::Smiling::

Drex glanced at the stage.

Gnai: This agrees. The mission was fairly tense. And confusing.

Drex: I think 'confusing' is a pretty charitable way to describe it.::His smile widened::

Stapledon:  ::Laughing in a way she found more formal than her usual laugh, if such a thing were possible::  Yes sir, it had a fair number of um...  Working parts.

Gnai: How were both of your leaves?

Drex: I've had some nice excursions, Bolarus is an interesting planet. You, Lieutenant?

Stapledon: I enjoyed it.  Bolarus has a lot of great sights.  And it was good to go swimming on another alien world.  It's always neat to see what kinds of things live in underwater ecosystems on different worlds.

Gnai: This somewhat... avoided the beaches of Bolarus, under the assumption that they would be quite crowded.

Kim nodded, remembering the groups of friends and families.  Bolian culture was incredibly sociable.

Drex: Some are, but as Doctor Letek can confirm, there are several secluded beaches.

Stapledon: ::Nodding::  Honestly a lot of my beach time was either spent with the crew or else under the water.

Gnai: It will be nice to set off again...

Drex: I believe most of the crew would agree with you.

Stapledon: I do.

Kim glanced over at the tables Drex seemed to gesture toward.  He paused and said,

Drex: Mind if I go get something to drink? Would you like to come with me?

Stapledon:  Of course.

Gnai: Response

As Drex looked over the refreshments, Kim spotted a glass of Root Beer.  She'd not drank that since her time at the academy.  The drink was made from a sassafras root and bark and also had a pretty strong fizzy punch to it.

Drex: The blue-toned dishes are usually marinated kelp-based appetizers, lightly seasoned and served chilled. ::His eyes shifted slightly over other trays.:: hose pastries often contain herb fillings... ::He finally looked at some jugs of colored liquid:: I have not idea what those are, but I liked the bluish color.

Stapledon:  Hm, haven't had root beer in a while.

Gnai:  Response

Stapledon:  Oh, I see.

Gnai:  Response

Drex got himself a drink and some appetizers.  Kim chose a Bolean seaweed salad, wondering how it might taste compared to the types of such salads she'd had on Earth during her late night coding sessions with Ning at the Academy.

Drex: So, what do you hope for the next mission? ::He took a sip, then frowned slightly as he tried to make sense of the taste.:: Personally I would love to run into some ancient ruins.

Gnai:  Response

Stapledon:  Hm that would be interesting too.  Archaeology would be a cool mission too.

Gnai/Drex:  Response

Stapledon:  I think there was at least one...  The USS Enterprise discovered a Dyson Sphere....  That'd be a heck of a relic to find.

Gnai/Drex:  Response
