((Holodeck 12, Deep Space 224))
Genkos took a deep breath, his nerves slightly bubbling under a relatively calm surface. He was looking forward to the announcements he had to make this very evening, but he was also hesitant - how would the crew react to more change? They were an incredibly resilient crew, and he hoped this would be the last change in the senior staff for a long time.
He hoped.
He had learned from humans that an excellent way to get everyone’s attention was to gently tap one’s knife against the side of a glass. Which he did, while heavily getting to his feet, the other hand forcing himself to his lopsided feet. He had seen that Kalianna had brought Braya back into the room, and gave her a grateful smile and nod.
Adea: ::clearing his throat:: Good evening, everyone. Thank you all for attending this evening, and a huge thank you to Williams for organising it. You have our, and our stomachs', gratitude.
He paused for applause and a little laughter.
Adea: ::taking a deep breath:: Our last encounter with CloQ has left us all shocked, bereft of friends and a ship, and all older and wiser. Thank you all for your resilience and your hard work during our time in the future. The awards we bestow this evening only reflect a portion of the work that we have all done getting back to our time, and I am personally very grateful to you all.
At this point, as pre-arranged, Cayden brought over a small tray of boxes, each containing a ribbon, a pip or a commemoration of their service. Next to the pile of boxes was a PADD, which contained an urgent message from Starfleet Command. Taking the first pile of ribbons, he turned to the assembled crew.
Adea: I am also very proud of you all, and due to our recent travels, I am very pleased to announce that every member of the Eagle crew is hereby bestowed with the Explorer Ribbon. ::he began to hand them out:: All of them are well-earned. Furthermore, ::as he gave every crewman a second ribbon box:: after three months living in a makeshift camp aboard an unknown planet, we have all been awarded the Wilderness Deployment Ribbon. ::taking a third ribbon box for each crewman:: And not only that, we have also all been awarded the Excellence in Adaptability Ribbon for reasons I am sure will be obvious to everyone.
Anyone: Response
He smiled, and held up his hands for quiet as the crew congratulated themselves and each other.
Adea: But among the collective achievements of our brilliant crew, we must also single out a few of our officers for their excellence and continued dedication to our crew. We must grant Ensign Buccheri and Commander Falt with Purple Hearts for their injuries, which I thank them for bearing, and know their recoveries will be swift and complete.
((OOC: Tom is on a LOA for a short while, but I thought it appropriate to still award him))
Buccheri: Response
Once the polite but slightly uncomfortable applause had died down, Genkos took another ribbon from the pile.
Adea: After being captured by our “friends” ::the quotation marks were audible:: in the Emerald Chain, I feel it is only correct, and proper to award Cayden Adyr, Braya and Jackson Tanner with the Prisoner of War Ribbon. Thank you for your service.
Genkos led the applause as the trio of officers were granted their ribbons by either himself or Cayden. He remained hovering behind Braya’s seat, his hand resting lightly on the back of her chair. He tried to remain reassuring, so as not to unnerve her, for he knew she was suffering.
Adyr/Braya/Tanner: Response
Adea: Ensign Braya is currently going through a tough time as I am sure we are all aware, but she does deserve our praise and our attention. Her ::he coughed:: acquisition of a cloaking device was invaluable, and her hard work under pressure from CloQ are to be commended. For that, and, to be honest, for her getting just a little bit of vengeance on CloQ for all of us, Starfleet Command have agreed to bestow the Spliced Mainbrace Distinction to her. Congratulations.
Braya: Response
Genkos clapped the hardest, but swiftly moved on when he suspected that the attention might be a little too much for her after the earlier misstep by Williams.
Adea: For captaining us through the events, I have also been granted the honour of the above distinction. ::he walked around to behind Stapledon:: Lieutenant Stapledon is a new addition to our crew, and her prior Captain has asked me to award her with the following on their behalf; Good Conduct Ribbon, Diplomacy Ribbon, First Contact Ribbon and Explorer’s Ribbon - something to do with bomb disposal and meeting the Ak’rakkians - they said you’d know what it meant, Lieutenant.
He gave her a wry smile before offering a little applause. Despite her newness to the crew, she had already been an asset, and he was proud to name her as one of his officers.
Stapledon: Response
Genkos remained standing, although there were now only a few boxes left. He moved back to Braya, and gave her shoulder a reassuring little squeeze, before placing a box in front of her.
Adea: Braya, the accolades you’ve received today are only a demonstration of work past. Going forward, we expect great things from you, and as such I am pleased to promote you to the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade, with all the associated rights and responsibilities.
There was a nice round of applause as the warmth felt for Braya was allowed to bubble and boil over into a show of real affection.
Braya: Response.
Genkos then turned back to the table, gesturing to two officers, as Cayden placed another box in front of each of them.
Adea: Lim, Letek, if you would please stand. Since I’ve joined the Eagle, it has been my pleasure to rely and lean on both of you in a variety of situations, and I know much of the rest of the crew would agree that without you both, our medical department would be much worse off. Therefore, I am pleased to promote both of you to the rank of Lieutenant, with all the associated rights and responsibilities. Congratulations.
Lim/Letek: Response
As the enthusiastic applause for their medical department waned, he manoeuvred himself behind Drex’s seat.
Adea: Finally, I think it would be remiss of me not to complement our new Head of Science, Drex, for all his brilliant work over the last mission. His dedication to us all is hugely impressive, and for that, and everything else, I am pleased to promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with all the associated rights and responsibilities.
Drex: Response
Again, there was enthusiastic applause - Drex was a popular member of their crew, and the promotion was well deserved. He moved back to his own seat, and held up the PADD from Adyr’s tray. He gave her a grateful nod, and turned back to the rest of the crew.
Adea: I have here our orders from Starfleet Command. Despite the loss of the USS Eagle, our superiors remain convinced that exploring the Atrian Reaches remains a high priority, and as such we are all being reassigned. This new ship, the USS Eagle-A, will be reaching us at the end of the week. For those of you who know about these sorts of things, it is a Pathfinder class starship, brand new, and it will be under the command of myself, ::he picked up a final box:: who has now been promoted to the rank of Captain. Thank you all for your help in aiding me achieve that goal.
He bowed his head in grateful acknowledgement of their hard work, before turning to Cayden.
Adea: We are also indebted to Cayden Adyr who has acted as my First Officer for the past few months. She has been reassigned, and I have been able to choose her replacement. It is my great honour, and great pleasure, to announce that newly minted Lieutenant Commander Drex will be the first First Officer of the USS Eagle-A.
Drex: Response
Adea: Lieutenant Stapledon will take on full duties as our Chief Science Officer, and Lieutenant Lim will take on the role of Chief Medical Officer with Elor Letek acting as her Assistant. ::he clapped once:: I am very proud of each and every one of you, and look forward to launching our new vessel when it arrives. For now, however, I would like to raise a glass ::he did as he said:: and toast our fallen ship, our fallen comrades and we go on in their memory.
Any: Response.
Adea: ::smiling:: Now, please, Commander Williams, I believe we’re ready for dessert.

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
