((Black Hole Bar, Deck 5, USS Eagle-A))
Alex turned his attention to the large roulette table on the other side of the bar.
oO It's been a while since I played; might be a good time to spin it a few rounds while getting to know them a little better. Oo
Williams: ::grinning:: Then perhaps we should take this conversation somewhere else?
Stapledon: I may or may not have played.
To Alex it didn’t really matter if they had experience playing, after all, they would not play each other, but the odds.
Qualunque: ::She looked at the roulette table and back to her colorful drink, her nose wrinkling just a tiny bit.:: Eh... gambling isn't really my favorite sub routine. Too much luck involved and not enough practical engineering for my taste. Especially when the house has ears that big, I'm pretty sure he can hear the ball thinking about where to land.
::She took a small, cautious sip of her Sunrise, then shrugged with a grin.::
Williams: As long as the table isn’t bugged in a way that allows the dealer to influence the outcome, it should be safe.
And you can be sure my team has checked that table at multiple random moments. As far as we know, it's the real deal.
Stapledon: Response
Qualunque: But! If you two are heading over, I’m in. I'll be the designated vibe observer. I’ve always wanted to see if I can calculate the velocity of a losing streak in real time. Besides, somebody has to make sure you don't bet the ship's warp core on a lucky number, right?
Williams: My luck seems to hold on black seventeen and red twenty-three. But you are welcome to stack your chips next to mine. Or find your own lucky number.
Qualunque/Stapledon: Response
The trio moved over to the table, and Zogi made his way to set it up for them.
Zogi: So, much much are you willing to bet?
Alex didn’t carry his Gold-Pressed Latinum with him 24/7 but he knew he had a few strips to play with. He entered a small amount into Zogi’s PADD and pressed his thumb on a marked area. With the transfer of his funds complete, Zogi offered Alex 25 red chips. He then turned his attention to the others.
Zogi: Ladies? :: He held up his device and waited for them to enter a number. ::
Qualunque/Stapledon: Response
With the transfers complete Qualunque was given a stack of bleu chips and Stapledon was given a pile of green ones. With the playing chips done, it was time to bet.
Alex put a chip on the black seventeen, and another on twenty-three red, hoping the odds would be in his favor. Zogi started to roll the wheel with his left hand and then tossed the small metal ball into the wheel and let it roll counterclockwise. The sound of it jumping over the numbers was enough to gather a small crowd that was observing the game.
The wheel started to move slower, and then the sound of the ball running around was gone. It had landed….
