:: After the small talk for a bit, she caught sight of the first officer and let him know it was time to start. Aria made her way to the podium at the short end of the clearing where the staff had placed the wooden podium and a small table covered in the boxes containing the awards.
She thought she felt all of the eyes all on her as she took a breath. There was a part of her curious why she could give orders on the Bridge or in Engineering, but still had trepidation about situations like this. ::
oO You could always start a lecture on Starship propulsion, or, just make it a standing order that the XO do all of the presentations. Oo
:: She shook her head slightly - that would never do, it would prove too many members of the Oddas family right. ::
Oddas: Thank you, :: pause ::, Thank you all for coming. During our last mission, we broke some new grounds, and some space, in the service of advancing not only our mode of travel but also our understanding of the universe. For many of us, it is our first instinct to recoil when things go poorly, but those of us in Starfleet know when we see the unknown we face it with full mettle. I am pleased and proud of your efforts, as your colleague and your friend.
oO That wasn't too bad. Oo

Oddas: Starfleet has read our reports and extended their congratulations. They have also awarded all members of the crew First Contact, Explorer's and Quantum Reality Service Ribbons for contacting an Alien Species, finding a new region, and serving in a :: emphasizing:: non-normal reality respectively. I could not agree with them more, in many ways this mission has served as an example of why I joined Starfleet. They have chosen to single out your First Officer,:: softly:: and Captain, for Diplomacy Ribbons for their work in approaching the aliens with care and not escalating a dangerous situation into something more.

Oddas: In addition to recognizing the crew in general, some of you have performed above and beyond. Mister Collins, :: she motioned for him to approach:: during the crisis you not only sustained an injury, but performed above and beyond to save the lives of the crew around you. For this reason, you are being awarded the Purple Heart, and the Gold Lifesaving Ribbon. Your work and attitude are an inspiration to all of us.

Oddas: Speaking of the injury, Lieutenant Drex continued Mister Collins' fine example and worked to save the life of a member of her crew. Please accept this small token of our appreciation, the Silver Lifesaving Ribbon.

:: As the crew responded she took a small sip of her drink, which tasted much tamer this time around. ::
Oddas: Sometimes, not reacting in a situation can be extremely helpful. During our mission, I was very impressed with Ensign Hontrú, both in carrying out my orders and in supporting my decisions. For this he is being awarded the Good Conduct Ribbon, good job.

Oddas: Much of the work we do cannot be done if not for the support we receive by others. One of those that stands out is Lieutenant Mika, who through both formal and informal counselling, has helped the crew by helping various members :: she purposefully swept the crowd with her gaze so as to not single out any particular member who needed Mika's help, and violating their privacy:: deal with real problems. Mister Mika, please take the Trauma Support Advocate ribbon for all of the hard work your superiors see you doing behind the scenes.

Oddas: Finally, in the same vein, someone has been fulfilling the role of Department Chief, without complaint and in good standing, since the Eagle has launched. Mister Pavlova, please accept the Department Head ribbon, and, keep up the good work.

Oddas: Thank you all for coming, and please, enjoy yourselves.
:: She raised a glass to the crew, paused, and then took a very deep drink. She felt as if an enormous weight was lifted as she left the podium. ::
