((Sickbay - Deep Space 224))
Despite Drex’s appeasement she really didn’t feel all that great about things.
Lim: ::Shrugging:: It’s easy to say it’s just stuff... I’m just glad I didn’t lose anything that I was emotionally attached to.
Mue chittered softly and rubbed against her cheek.
Drex: That’s something, at least. ::He exhaled slowly, a faint nod accompanying the words.:: Losing the Eagle is... a lot. But losing a piece of yourself on top of it? Glad that didn’t happen.
He cleared his throat.
Drex: And... :: He pointed to Mue, realizing he did not know the name of the little pet. :: It seems pretty relieved too. ::A small, genuine smile tugged at his lips.::
Lim: He is. ::She scratched under Mue’s chin who chittered in happiness.:: His name’s Mue, he’s a meicora.
Drex took a careful step closer.
Drex: Mue. I saw the two of you on the planet. What is he exactly? Some kind of... shoulder-dwelling morale officer?
Noemi laughed.
Lim: For me he is I suppose. Meicora’s are telepathic and can form psychic bonds with other psychic beings. Mue and I formed one when I was ten.
Drex: That actually makes sense. Can he sense others too? I mean... :: he lifted a hand, vaguely indicating the space around them:: should I be worried he’s judging me right now?
She turned her head to look at Mue questioningly who chittered in response and sent her a feeling of contentment and curiosity before they both turned their attention back to Drex.
Lim: He can sense you like I do, but meicora don’t think about things like we do so he’s not interpreting what he’s reading like you or I would. He’s mostly just curious about you and interested in making friends.
Drex: Response
Mue hopped off her shoulder to land on the floor and pawed at Drex’s pant leg. Once certain he was paying attention, Mue then jumped up on the bed Drex had vacated to let the two of them inspect each other without being in Noemi’s space.
Lim: He mostly uses my interpretation of what people are feeling for a basis if he needs to. Meicora can pick up things that humans and betazoids at least can’t, so he’s picked up things that I’ve missed and pointed it out to me.
Drex: Response
Lim: Electrical fields and some airborne chemicals and gases, which can be a bit disorienting to get through the bond.
And sometimes nauseating depending on what was going on.
