((Temporary Offices, Deck 118, Deep Space 224))

The thought of losing the Apollo came back to mind. She had fought bravely against two Borg cubes, but did not survive the aftermath. Nor did much of the crew. Many had been reassigned after her destruction.

Williams: Unless you know more… there is very little I can do. Besides hope—and pray—we will all remain together.

Hesan: Thank you, sir. I appreciate that sentiment. Truly.

Alex leaned back slightly, studying her expression with the practiced calm of someone who had seen too many crews scattered to the stars.

Williams: I won’t lie to you, Master Sergeant… the waiting is the worst part. Not the danger. Not the action. Just the silence afterwards. Still… whatever comes next, I’ll fight to keep this crew intact. You have my word on that.

He gestured to the seat opposite him in quiet invitation not sure if she would take it.

Williams: What are your thoughts on it? Anything on your end I should know?

This time her antennae moved in an Andorian shrug.

Hesan: As far as I am aware my marine unit is still technically assigned to Denali Station. When the orders came to ship out with the Eagle I didn't see anything that actually changed that, so there's a good chance I'll be heading back to Denali.

Alex thought about what the Andorian marine was saying. It made sense. Danali would be a far more suitable choice than Starbase 224.

Williams: You could be right about that. But what if you had a chance?

Hesan: I'll go where I'm ordered too, sir. I've moved around a lot over the years, so I try not to get too attached. That said, this crew has started to feel more like home than most.

Williams: Ah, the proper reply of a soldier. Go wherever the politicians want you to go. I think if there is any consistency in history, it's precisely that. But, duty aside, you must have an idea of where you’d like to be.

Hesan: As far as I know the thirteenth fleet hasn't been assigned a Marine unit either. If that changes, I might not be heading back to Ring 42 at all.

Williams: Well, I promise you that if I know something, you will be among the first to hear about it.

To Alex, that seemed a simple but effective outcome of the meeting.

((Happy to continue the plot if you want to add more, if not, consider it a wrap for Alex))
