((Makeshift Captain’s Office, The USS Eagle Outpost))
Commander Williams and Ensign Buccheri appeared in his makeshift office. He gestured for them to take a seat on the stools that were poor substitutes for the comfy chairs of the Eagle. He had handed them PADDs with their part of the plan.
Adea: You two will be part of Operation: Fancypants. We are to distract and divert the museum’s staff so that they don’t notice any of the other teams. We are to be as annoying and frustrating as we possibly can, to keep their attention on us. Touch things, ask ridiculous questions, generally be the most irritating you that you can be.
Buccheri: Can do, sir.
Williams: I can be a pain in the butt, if that’s what you want me to be, sir, but I cannot help but point out that I could also be very useful in dealing with the security forces from their control room.
Genkos looked over at Williams and shook his head softly. He hadn’t called the man to the briefing; only the team leaders, but it seemed their chief of security knew the score anyway.
Adea: Please read nothing into the fact that I called you two to do this. The rest of the senior staff are on other missions, but we’ll be leading as much of the crew as we can get onboard.
Buccheri: No offense taken, sir. I'm a good little ensign.
Williams: Well, if we want to cause havoc, we might have to do something about that.
Buccheri: Anything we're not allowed to do in the context of uh, "distracting" museum staff, sir...?
Williams: We could simply set off a fire alarm, if they have any. Or try to steal something as far from the Bounty as possible. A sit-in, the options are almost limitless.
Genkos frowned as he considered the various options that Williams had mooted, but turned his attention to Buccheri’s question, a slight whisper of a grin playing around his lips.
Adea: Ensign, what are you thinking of, I have to know…
Buccheri: Response?
Williams: If I were to oversee security, I would hate to have more than one crisis at a time. As I would have to spread my forces while keeping an eye open for a potential third crisis, which is the real one. So the more chaos we create, the further spread their attention will be.
The Captain nodded; that was a sensible solution to their problem - divide and conquer. Although the station’s security was mostly automated, there were limited staff aboard, and Genkos wanted to keep them as busy as possible.
Adea: A sit-in is not a bad idea - protest something kept at the museum. Everyone from the Eagle that isn’t on one of our other teams is at our disposal, so we can assign a good few people to doing that.
Buccheri: Response?
Williams: A fire, that would get a lot of attention. We can see how fast they respond and how.
Williams thought it over, before piping up again.
Williams: In fact, we could postpone our break-in for one more day. Giving us one day to explore the place better and create a small distraction. All to learn how they will respond. Giving us more intel to work with for the real thing.
The Captain shook his head - he wanted this done, and done fast.
Adea: We don’t have that kind of time. Once we’re on the museum, we will literally have minutes before the rest of the teams spring into action. I want to be a distraction from the word go. I also don’t want us to do any permanent damage to the collection - we might be going back to when we came from, but I still want to leave this place in one piece.
Not to mention the fact that as a 31st-century museum, they probably had fire suppression systems that Genkos could only dream of.
Williams/Buccheri: Response?
Genkos fingered the PADD that the plan had been made up on. He had forgotten to pass along one important detail, so he quickly fired across a message to Kettick. Once the freighter had dropped off the majority of the Eagle’s crew at the museum’s front entrance, he was to use Braya’s cloaking device to get the freighter and sneak it in the goods entrance. Genkos smiled softly; it was a shame her cloaking device was just slightly too modern - they’d done the calculations and it wouldn’t have worked on the Bounty.
He had also made a mental note to discuss cloaking devices and their legitimate (and illegitimate) uses with Braya when they got home.
Adea: We want eyes on us, so other ideas like sit-ins are gratefully acknowledged. I was also thinking we could offer to buy various bits and bobs in the museum - that might rile up the staff a bit.

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
