((Horchata Cafe, Bolarus IX))

While it might want to spend the whole of shore leave aboard the ship, Gnai realized that it would probably not make many friends in the medical or counseling departments if it tried to pull off such avoidance of “fun” and “relaxation”. Genkos’ first order to it, way back in the day when it first joined the Artemis, was to try and enjoy itself.

So here it was, down on Bolarus IX, trying to find something to do to pass the time adequately (besides swimming, as the beaches seemed too full of humanoids for it to be comfortable exiting its suit and enjoying the water… and there was no telling if the salinity would be acceptable, or if there were contaminants in the water, or any other of the numerous reasons that Gnai could think up not to go down there). It was a decent enough day, Gnai presumed, by humanoid standards, the star overhead somewhat obscured by clouds, but not raining.

Frankly, despite the systems of its suit and the clouded skies, it was feeling as if the water in its tank was getting too hot. Thankfully, nearby to where it was wandering somewhat aimlessly, there was a cafe with some shade provided by various native plants. Perhaps it could harvest a clipping before it left… to add to its small collection.

As it approached, it saw a somewhat familiar face. Before boarding the Eagle, Gnai had done what it always did, and took a look at the various profiles for the officers on board. It wasn’t completely certain about the identification (humanoids looked all very similar to it), but it was probably right…?

Gnai: Lieutenant… Tanner? This presumes?

It approached where he was leaning, hoping that it wasn’t intruding. Perhaps this Lt. JG. Tanner was also attempting to somewhat escape the relatively slim crowds of both the Eagle and the heavier crowds down the gravity well.

Tanner: Morning Lieutenant!

Gnai: Good morning…!

Tanner: How have you been enjoying shore leave so far?

It shrugged the shoulders of its suit.

Gnai: It’s been… good, very calm. ::pause:: Do you mind if this joins you?

Best to ask and be sure, of course. One could never tell, humanoids had weird subtleties to their communication that Gnai sometimes found hard to parse. If they could just display their emotions on their surfaces, like Galadorans, it would be far easier.

Tanner: Response

Gnai: Thank you… ::pause:: How has your shore leave been?

That was a decently appropriate question, Gnai presumed, for colleagues who had never officially met, and had only served together but briefly so far.

Tanner: Response

Shore leave was definitely needed, for all of them. It had been a rough mission (weren’t they all?) and Gnai was glad to not have to deal with exploding spores anymore, at the very least.

Gnai: It’s good to have a moment of peace after Alomia… This was glad to spend most of its time aboard the Eagle… after such a disastrous away team assignment.

Tanner: Response
