((Federation Headquarters Ballroom, Bolarus IX))
Sensing that her teasing was not getting a positive response, Noemi backed off.
Lim: Well given that there were no permanent injuries I suppose all's well that ends well.
Which was really all that mattered in the end.
Tanner: For what it’s worth, I wanted to go directly to sickbay.
Lim: Well now you know to override whoever’s making the stupid decision to avoid sickbay.
While she didn’t understand the urge to avoid sickbay when you weren’t feeling well, she did know that was a thing. See Lieutenant Gnai and that one out of time officer from her first mission on the Eagle. However, while she understood that people had that reaction, it didn’t mean it didn’t irritate her.
Tanner: But yes, a few lessons all around. ::In an effort to move on with the conversation.:: I do promise to not avoid in the future.
Lim: Good.
She smiled brightly and decided it was time to switch topics.
Lim: The venue did a really great job decorating the place.
Tanner: Yeah it’s a really great venue. ::appreciating the topic change.::
Lim: I’ve never been to such a fancy looking place before.
Both sides of her family had always preferred more simple, even minimalist, formal events so she hadn’t had the opportunity to experience something so ritzy.
Tanner: ::Nodding.:: Should we head further in?
She nodded back.
Lim: Yeah and get out of the way for other people coming in.
Tanner: Response
Noemi pursed her lips as she gave it thought. Only one thing came to mind and and hopefully she won’t be jinxing them by voicing it outloud..
Lim: Not sure. As long as the next mission doesn’t deal with biocrime I’ll be fine with whatever we get.
Technically, depending on how you’d argue the intent part of the definition, what the Alomian priestess committed could have been considered bioterrorism rather than a simple biocrime. She had purposefully released the red spores to coerce them into stopping what they had been doing on the moon after all; she just hadn’t thought she’d be harming them by doing so.
Lim: What about you? ::She reflected back on the meeting of the ship’s department chiefs.:: I imagine you’d prefer a mission that doesn’t deal with infected neural nodes.
Tanner: Response
The two of them made their way over to the very decorated tables and noted there wasn’t a set seating arrangement.
Lim: That would be nice. Maybe we’ll be lucky and we’ll know how bad the mission’s going to be at the start.
She doubted that would ever happen without major changes. Since their ship's posting was in unexplored space they wouldn't be sent on those kinds of missions even if Starfleet wanted them to ne. Maybe she should just start assuming that things will get or be worse than they appeared and save herself some time.
