((Federation Headquarters Ballroom, Bolarus IX))

Genkos took a few hurried steps over to the Andorian, and made a distinct effort not to look at the leg which he knew had been injured. A fellow amputee, he had waves of empathy for Tholin, but hadn’t wanted to send out an embossed invitation to the “we miss our legs” club just yet.

Adea: How have you been, Tholin?

Tholin’s antennae shifted once, a small movement that Genkos noticed, but he said nothing. One thing about being a telepath was that when you were learning to control your powers, you noticed certain thoughts led to certain facial movements, and that even once you stopped actively using your telepathy, you might still notice those microexpressions.

ch’Clex: I am fine, Captain. I have received a full recovery from the doctor.

He paused, then his tone softened slightly.

ch’Clex: And you, sir? How are you this evening?

Genkos smiled at Tholin, for indeed he did feel well. The ship seemed to be in a good place after their latest mission, and the crew seemed like they were enjoying shore leave - in fact, a few seemed to be itching to get back out there.

Adea: I am very well thank you Tholin, happy to be hosting another one of these events. I hope to have gotten the knack of it this time.

Not that he’d made any massive cock-ups in his first one, but it was different now that he was formerly the Captain of the Eagle-A, and guiding a new(ish) crew through their time together. Tholin seemed to be glancing again across the ballroom, and Genkos followed his eyeline. The floral display of the Eagle-A now stood proudly in place, framed by the soft lighting and the elegant Bolian architecture.

ch’Clex: You have arranged this well, Captain.

Adea: That’s very kind of you to say.

Tholin looked toward the arriving guests. Some were already speaking with one another, and Genkos narrowed his eyes slightly as he saw that Williams had slinked in. The Captain hadn’t wanted to invite him, considering the way they were parting, but Drex had suggested that they had, as a gesture of goodwill. Genkos had hoped the man would have extended a gesture of goodwill back and not have shown his face.

ch’Clex: I believe everyone will appreciate this evening.

Genkos pursed his lips as he stared daggers at Williams’ back.

Adea: Perhaps not everyone.

ch’Clex: Response

Genkos broke his gaze and smiled slightly too broadly at the Andorian officer.

Adea: Still, we should try and enjoy ourselves. Have you had much of a chance to check out Bolarus?

ch’Clex: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
