((Corridor - Deck 325, Voth Generation Ship Igirni - Delta Quadrant))

They had safely avoided the firefight on Deck 358 and reached Deck 325. Drex maintained a firm grip on his tricorder, as though squeezing the device might somehow make its readings more stable and, above all, more reassuring.
When the turbolift doors opened, Drex expected to find at least a few Voth at work or moving between rooms. Instead, the corridor stood empty, confirming what his tricorder had already indicated.
A heavy feeling settled in his chest, threatening to drag his spirits down completely when Verrla confirmed that the situation was far from normal.

The tricorder interrupted their exchange with a sharp, urgent alarm. Drex’s gaze dropped at once. The interference he had been chasing through the lift was gone now, replaced by eight biosigns, tightly grouped, moving in their direction. He lifted his head, scanning the corridor ahead, then turned to the others.

Drex: A group of Voth, eight. Cannot tell more.

Verrla: Can you tell how far away they are and if they are moving this way?

The Lieutenant Commander took a step forward, slightly waving the device in front of him.

Drex: About... 70 meters... and... ::He took a deep breath:: yes... they’re coming this way.

Avariswal: From what I have seen, this ship seems to work in compartments with a specialized crew. Based on our position, what are their most likely assignments?

Drex: Hopefully communications. :: Raising his gaze towards Avariswal::

Mensah: Response

Verrla: There are only a couple of routes to the communication department from here. One of them may take us around them, but it depends on what direction they’re moving in. That also does not preclude there being other groups along the way. Stealth will be required in any rate.

Avariswal: You seem to think that your own people might be hostile towards us?

Mensah: Response

Drex: We're unarmed, ::He said, gesturing toward the corridor from which the Voth would soon emerge.:: I can't say the same about them. We don't know why there was a shooting on the other bridge, and we don't know what's happening with Captain Adea. The truth is, we know nothing. If we can reach the communications center, we'll finally start getting some answers.

Avariswal: Although some seemed to carry weapons in the decks above us, you seem convinced these are hostile too. I can’t help but notice that might be related to what happened earlier. Is there something you are not telling us? Something that happened before we came?

Verrla: Response?

Mensah : Response

The tricorder's alarm grew more insistent. They were wasting too much time chatting.

Drex: Elder, they're his people. ::His gaze flicked down the empty passage, then back to the group, his nervousness more palpable.:: But if we want to avoid them, we have to move now.

Avariswal / Mensah / Verrla: Response

Drex was not able to add a word. Footsteps echoed first, growing louder at every beat of his scared heart. Then eight shapes emerged at the far end of the corridor.
They were armed, but Drex had the impression they looked different from those they had encountered before.
Two of them stepped into the open first. Their heads snapped up immediately as they registered the group, and their weapons came up a second later.

Voth soldier: Stop. Do not move

oOWe’re doomed... Oo

Drex slowly raised her hands, the tricorder still firmly in his right hand. Without turning his head, he looked at Verrla. They were the ship's defenders, right? She surely knew them, or at least they must know her.

Drex: We have no weapons. We are not a threat.

Avariswal / Mensah / Verrla: Response

From the rearguard, a Voth stepped forward, passing the two who still held them at gunpoint. Drex didn’t like the expression on their face. They were taking too long to recognize the Elder.
Drex felt the tension tighten in his chest. Something was wrong with the pace of this encounter; recognition should have already been immediate.

Drex: Who are you?

Avariswal / Mensah / Verrla: Response

Tobrak: Response
