((Captain’s Office, Deck One, USS Eagle-A))
Noemi’s first couple of months as a Chief Medical Officer had been interesting to say the least. Stressful, disgruntling, and disorienting were other words she would use if she was being honest to herself. She’d never been inclined towards leadership, though she wouldn’t really count herself as a natural follower either. She would have called herself a go with the flow, willing to take on various roles as necessary previously, but her time as the ship’s CMO was making her reassess that understanding of herself.
She disliked handling the scheduling of shifts, the paperwork, the management of people who used to be her peers and seniors, having less time to research diseases and conditions, not having enough time to do clinic work, and especially the additional paperwork involved in being in a leadership position.
oO Seriously, why are all those reports even necessary? Oo
She’d have way more time to do the things she liked about being a medical officer if she didn’t have to fill out those damn forms all the time. Accepting her promotion seemed to have sapped the enjoyment from her job. In fact despite as stressful as it had been, dealing with medical issues that had arisen from their visit to Ondo had been the most enjoyable time she’d had since taking the position. That certainly said something.
That something was why she was impulsivity standing outside of the captain's office, just hoping that he was available to talk instead of having set up a meeting like she should have done/
Lim: Captain, are you available for a talk?
Noemi poked her head into Adea’s office.
Adea: Response
Noemi made her way into the offered chair and sat down, smoothing her uniform and arranging her labcoat to help settle herself before what she hoped would be a helpful conversation.
Lim: I had some personal career questions and since you were a chief medical officer before going into command I figured you were the best person to ask.
Her uncertain nervousness was easily read even to someone who didn’t possess telepathy or empathy.
Adea: Response
Lim: Did you like being the CMO at all? Did you want the position?
Adea: Response
Lim: ::Softly:: I wasn’t ever interested in being the CMO, but thought that once I’d get used to things I’d like the position, but that’s not the case. Kinda the opposite actually.
Adea: Response
Lim: Mostly that I don’t have as much time actually doing medical stuff. ::She huffed:: I spend it doing things like paperwork or shift schedules.
Adea: Response
