Her and Mue’s scans had revealed a thinner portion of the walls on the shorter ends that appeared to have a cavity of some kind behind them. Perhaps that was their hidden access point. She made her way over to one of the shorter walls and began running her hands across the surface and tapping on it, listening to the sound it made in response.
Lim: There’s a hollow on the other side. There should be some kind of door.
And if not then maybe they could make one, using methods their chief engineer would no doubt approve of.
Frinn: Hollow?!
Noemi turned to their Voth companion in confusion.
Frinn: That can’t be right… There should be at least several layers of reinforced structural material between compartments. If it sounds hollow, then either this was never part of the original design… or someone changed it.
Tanner: Surely on a ship of this age, original designs wouldn’t be much use anymore.
Falt: I'd say a more likely cause is whatever anomaly affected us before.
Lim: Hollow might not be the right word, but there’s some kind of space beyond a much thinner wall than the others so I figured there might be a door or some kind of access point.
Frinn: Impossible. And I don’t use that lightly. Walls like these do not become hollow by accident. Either someone removed the material from the inside, or something has been taking it.
The man paused, considering something.
Frinn: Unless the ship has been cannibalizing itself. Some old repair systems used to reclaim material from damaged sections, but they are not supposed to touch load-bearing bulkheads. And… those systems have been offline for many generations because they could not be maintained.
Tanner: Seems you’ve answered your own question then.
While an interesting fact, it really didn’t change much in their equation.
Lim: So then there is a path we can take that doesn’t involve climbing up walls without gear.
Frinn : Response
Tanner: Surely, this is to our advantage though? Is it not an opportunity for easy escape? :: Now taking the poignant moment to look up.:: So as to avoid any climbing?
Falt: That would depend on how big the hollow is, where it goes, and whether it is a better option than following the tracks away from the waste area we landed in.
Lim: ::Muttering:: Or taking trash conveyor belts to unknown locations.
Frinn: Response
Before they could continue further down that line of discussion a crash could be heard up ahead.
Falt: What was that?
Noemi focused her senses in that direction. She could feel Braya and another Voth nearby but she couldn’t say that they were the cause.
Lim: Guess we should go check it out.
Frinn / Tanner: Response
Falt led them in the direction of the sound. They’d only travelled twenty meters or so when they spotted an open door set into the same wall as the hollow.

Beyond the opening was their missing comrade and the other Voth she had felt before.
Falt: Lieutenant Braya, am I glad to see you. ::noting the Voth standing beside her:: Who's your
friend?
Lim: ::Smiling:: I’m glad you weren’t too far away.
She couldn’t really tell what was going on between them. Both of their emotions were a roaring storm of emotional turmoil that made it hard to parse out what the cause was exactly. She was fairly certain that they weren’t only because of her group’s sudden arrival. Or at least not only because of their sudden arrival.
Braya / Trashk / Frinn / Tanner: Response
Falt: We were just looking for a way out. We thought we'd found a promising hollow, but it was probably
this room. I don't suppose you know of a way out, or perhaps where these tracks go?
Noemi carefully slid forward to run a scan with her tricorder on Braya.
Lim: Are you injured at all?
She didn’t seem injured, but that didn’t mean much.

Lim: Why would there be other Voth ships out here? Voth territory is at least, what, several weeks of warp travel away?
