Adea: Groom them for success, give them experience. Make sure that when you’re gone, they can carry on, it’s what I tried to do with Nusin, they -

Genkos stopped, and shook his head. Nurse Nusin had been an officer aboard the Resolution. Genkos had a fondness for that Bolian medic, and since they were visiting their homeworld, they had been more in Genkos’ mind of late. His eyes watered for a moment as he recalled Nusin’s final hours - trapped in one of CloQ’s twisted games, Nusin had died over and over as Genkos and his team tried to save them. After the first few rotations, Nusin was begging for the sweet release of death from the torment that Q had bestowed on them.

Lim: You don’t have to talk about them if you don’t want to.

Adea: ::swallowing, and recovering an easier tone:: The other is, save the juicy stuff for yourself. You’re literally in charge, so make it yours. If you want to do research, make sure that’s what you’re assigned.

However it seemed like Noemi wasn’t satisfied.

Lim: But there are CMO duties that I can’t delegate, like the management parts.

Genkos nodded at that - it had been a big old culture clash when he’d first started as CMO, but now it was arguably the bulk of his job as Captain. Hells, he was doing it now.

Adea: And that, you struggle with?

Lim: I don’t have a problem with being in charge in general. I’ve had to do that for medical issues before. It’s just, I dunno, different when I’m having to give orders to someone like Lieutenant Letek or Lieutenant Dai.

Genkos steepled his fingers in front of himself, and regarded Noemi with his dark ebony eyes. After his conversation with Drex, he was starting to doubt his own ability to pick senior officers. Noemi was a fantastic doctor, but it was starting to appear that he had a knack for picking competent but diffident officers.

Adea: Guiding people you see as equals or even as superiors?

Lim: Response

Adea: Have you spoken to Elor, or to Dai about this?

Lim: Response

Commanding Officer

USS Eagle-A

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
