Genkos gave the Galadoran a sweet little smile, as he considered what the scientist was doing. It was investigating a problem from the Artemis, a ship they had both served on, but that possibly had no current practical uses. However…

Adea: ~ Science for science’s sake is a cornerstone of Starfleet… and also evil geniuses in comic books. ~

Gnai: ~ I ::singular:: have heard many times before that when one takes on more responsibility, one somewhat loses the opportunity to be directly involved… Sounds like that was the case for you. ~

Genkos felt a little jolt in the pit of his stomach - that very subject had been a topic of conversation with many a colleague both contemporary and previous, and it was merely something one had to get used to. Genkos’ mind merged with Gnai’s for a moment, their colours mixing and intermingling.

Adea: ~ Yes… and no… It’s different - you’re more involved in many ways, and completely removed in others. I couldn’t tell you the last time I practiced some good old honest medicine. ~

And he wasn’t sure how he felt about that - Captain had never strictly been his goal, but he loved it. But he did miss the practical feel of practicing medicine.

Gnai: ~ That’s why I ::singular:: am... content to remain here. ~ ::gesturing to the science lab around them:: ~ Just being a scientist is enough… I ::singular:: do not have ambitions for anything more than that. ~

Genkos nodded, as he considered the ambitions of certain officers he’d known over the years. The one who was most desperate to be Captain was now rotting in some Federation jail, so perhaps there was some truth in what it said.

Adea: ~ Starfleet needs more officers like you. Not just for that, but ::his eyes and mind crinkled with kindness:: for more things too ~

Gnai: ~ Response ~

Adea: ~ Considering your willingness to stay put, do you think it’s time to put down roots? ::he eyed the jellyfish creature’s tentacles:: Metaphorically, of course ~

Gnai: ~ Response ~

Captain Genkos Adea MD

Commanding Officer

USS Eagle-A

G239502GS0

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
