Fleet Captain Oddas Aria: Awards on the Promenade

Oddas: Thank you, thank you, everyone. For those who don't know me - I am Fleet Captain Oddas Aria. Those who do, know I will try to be short.
She pulled herself up as tall as she could. With her upbringing, she tended to put a veneer of military life between her and the uncomfortable parts of her life. Alea had told Aria it was just a part of her way to handle introverted-ness. "Dress uniforms are the social shields".

Oddas: Thank you for having us here, and for letting us share in this Gratitude Festival - and the ones that will take place on the surface - back home. I am obviously from here, I love my home, and to be able to bring home an artifact, that is so important to my home, my childhood, and my faith, is something that I never thought I would have been possible when I joined Starfleet. Thank you to my crew for joining me back here, and giving me the opportunity to show you my backyard.

Aria looked out at the crowd, making contact with several different people.
Oddas: And now, I am thankful for the opportunity to brag a little about my crew. In addition to brining home the Tear of the Prophet recently, our crew also recently hosted a major event at our city, and of course with so many people in our City, we had the usual problems - problems my crew handled handily. ::beat:: For their general good work during the course of the mission, and helping keep the city in one piece - chasing saboteurs, keeping the population safe, and making my day that much easier, Forsyth, Raimor, Hesan, Dagaz, Tod, Freck and Kettick are all awarded a Captain's Commendation.

She took a deep breath, and out of the corner of her eye thought she saw someone familiar - and decided it must have been her imagination.
Oddas: Likewise, we would not have gotten through the events of the day without the efforts of Xiron, Vahin, Raimor, Almonaster, DeVeau, and Falt, so please accept the Good Conduct Ribbon was recognition for those efforts.

Oddas: We did have a couple of teams that stood out - Mister Almonaster, for your work with to smooth over relations with a Diplomat that just landed in our lap, the Joint Meritorious Unit is awarded for being an example of how to work with others. Good work!

She waited for the crowd to settle again before continuing.
Oddas: Several of our crew also had to complete multiple investigations, finding out who and what was trying to poision us, who caused a crash, and how to solve multiple mysteries. It is my pleasure to award the Investigation Ribbon to Mister Forsyth, Dagaz, Hesan, Tod, Raimor, Commander DeVeau, and Commander Falt. Thank you for doing the hard work to keep us safe.
Aria let out a slow breath and let the crowd react.
Oddas: For those who don't know yet, we have asked Commander DeVeau to be our new Science Chief, and she has accepted, with a mandate to explore our City, and the Ring - unlocking the secrets of our surroundings. ::beat:: Also our intrepid XO - Lt. Commander Falt has been on the job for some time, and easily qualifies for the First Officer Ribbon - great work keeping me honest.
She clapped and shook her XO and Second Officers' hands.
Oddas: Finally, there is no greater pleasure a Commanding Officer has than to promote the members of their crew. That is why, with my great pleasure to announce that a member of my crew has been making himself conspicuous, earning recognition of his colleagues, taking responsibility that was not his, and performing exemplary. As of this stardate it is known that Ensign Araxxu Vahin has been promoted to the rank of Lt. Junior Grade, with all the rights and responsibilities that come along with it. ::beat, then a grin:: And may the Prophets help you.

Aria applauded along with the crowd until it died down naturally then raised her voice to the crowd.
