Ensign Jackson Tanner - Good view, good people

Jackson loved the Dress Uniform. It wasn’t so much the uniform it was what it symbolised and the reason for wearing it. It wasn’t just something they were forced to do on a whim, as it was done only for significant and important events. Which was usually a celebration or significant event that came with a celebration. And who doesn’t love a celebration.
This was the second time Jackson was at an awards celebration since graduating the academy. The first time was at the same venue, only he didn’t know anyone here at all. At least one of those things had now changed. He’d been with the crew for a few months now and at least from his perspective things had been going well. He’d not managed to create any real disasters, nothing had been blown up, at least by him and he’d avoided needing to talk to Commodore Oddas. Although it seems, talking to Commodore Oddas can’t have been a bad thing. The Bajoran Commanding Officer had chosen a new direction and had left the Station. This had understandably left everyone with a range of emotions which Jackson understood, but really didn’t share. Change is hard, but for Jackson it’s all still changing, so what’s one more!
As the lift doors opened, Jackson allowed the other guests to exit first, as was his norm. Tonight would be an important night for many people and wearing the uniform properly demonstrated respect for his peers. Following a quick double check on the uniform, Jackson stepped out onto the deck. T
The view up here was simply stunning. The rooftop had largely uninterrupted views and Jackson could not help but pause and stare. The rooftop itself was done up well as it had been before, but Jackson suspected this was largely how it was at all times. The various areas were lit with appropriate lighting and deliberately placed standing tables for drinks and nibbles were distributed around the open area.
Guests were also distributed out all over the area with Jackson deliberately waiting until people had begun to arrive before making his appearance. Being first or last to arrive were things that led to awkward social interactions and he liked to avoid them.
The Bar was full with a few guests already lit like a beacon. Obliging the call, Jackson made his way over and ordered a beer. He began scanning the crowd while he waited for it to be poured. Spotting one of his newest group members, Jackson wandered over beer in hand.
Tanner: Ensign ch’Clex, how are you?
The Andorian officer, and soon to be an official member like Jackson of the JOPA, was quietly waiting at the bar.
ch’Clex: Response
Tanner: It really is a lovely spot for an award ceremony. This will be your first yeah?
The tactical officer had come aboard during their last mission and to be honest, Jackson hadn’t really had a chance to really introduce himself. He knew what it was like now, to have a room full of people and no one to anchor too and no one you really knew. So, in the true spirit of JOPA, he tried to provide opportunity.

Tanner: And where was home before this? Or, is this your first posting ?
Jackson had emerged from the Academy and landed at Denali with his feet already at a run. Probably wasn’t an ideal or necessarily textbook entry but it did allow him to sink his teeth into things very quickly and get to know people. But just because this was Jackson’s first posting, didn’t mean it was every other Ensigns.

Looking over the Andorian man's shoulder, Jackson spotted other fellow staff members he recognised. Who were fortunately heading towards them.
Tanner: Ensign Rian and West! Nice to see you here. ::Moving aside to make way at the bar.::
