(OOC: The reaction to the ceremony proper will come in another post, feel free to add conversation if you feel like it)
Kettick: Chief of Engineering
Kettick, pleased to meet you all. And welcome to Denali Station. I hope
you enjoyed your stay on the Ring so far.
West/Rian: Response
Kettick nodded, taking a sip of his fruit juice.
Kettick: Quite. It would seem that you have joined us during interesting times, as you humans would say.
The Andorian shifted his antennae, in what Kettick had learned to associate with increased attention. Not unlike Remmilians in that respect, really.
ch’Clex: :: Bowing his head slightly :: Lieutenant Commander Kettick, sir. I only arrived recently, but I’ve found Denali Station quite welcoming. Ensign Tanner and the others have been very helpful in getting me acclimated.
The Tactical officer sounded guarded. Or perhaps he was naturally formal, at least around superior officers?
Of course, Ensign Tanner did not have any such issues.
Tanner: It’s been a pleasure to receive new people. Afterall, it makes me not the new guy any more.
His broad grin earned him a polite smile from the blue-skinned Ensign in response. Kettick very pointedly did not comment. Because jokes about the rate of new arrivals inevitably led to jokes about the rate of attrition, and he was... not entirely in the right mood for those.
West/Rian/any: Response
Food came around, and was sampled. The insectoid pointed a specific part of the selection to the newcomers, warning them of the high salt content of the Bajoran rolls. Lessons learnt, and all that.
Tanner: So, did anyone have any shore leave plans they didn’t quite get to? ::Pausing slightly before starting.:: I was really hoping to finish a book, but it just never happened.
The Remmilian Engineer's facial feelers twitched in an amused way.
Kettick: I have long since stopped making shore leave plans involving things I cannot complete in half a day. Something or other *always* comes up.
West/Rian/ch’Clex: Response
Tanner: ::Sympathising:: Sometimes, the time just moves so quick!
There was a movement among the people standing around, and the side lights dimmed and brightened three times before remaining low. Kettick looked around, trying to discern the reason for this malfunction, when he saw that a spotlight illuminated Commander Falt, standing at the usual speaker's platform.
Kettick: The theatrics are new.
Tanner: We should probably move a little closer. ::Indicating a vacant stand up table a few metres away from the business of the bar.::
West/Rian/ch’Clex: Response
The Remmilian nodded.
Kettick: Good thinking. We shall need to free our hands - there will be quite a lot of clapping involved.
