((Black hole bar, Deck 11, USS Eagle))
Dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack. Rule of acquisition number 109. It was hanging on a small tile on the wall of the black hole bar, along with two dozen more. Zogi valued all the Ferengi rules, but a while ago he decided to place some on tiles as a decorative item. It hadn’t helped at all to lure new people into the bar, not that he expected the tiles would make the difference.
Over the years business had been extremely slow. With the Federation expanding its influence at Denali station it seemed visitors often went there, instead of the Eagle. And with most of the Eagle crew also working and sleeping on the station most of the time, even the regular Starfleet people paid him hardly any visits. In short, business was slow. Profit was enough not to die. Too little to live on. But, there was no way out. The contract he signed with the former captain of the Eagle had made it very clear. 5 years lease, and breaking that would cost him dearly … So, with still one year to go he counted the days he could leave the Eagle and get his bar over to Denali Station.
However, news had reached the Ferengi that the captain was leaving. And a new captain no doubt meant his former contract could be broken. Therefore he assumed he could leave the Eagle behind. Even though he would miss it. There were a lot of good memories here, most of them profitable. But memories were just that. And they didn’t bring him any Latinum. So, it was time to make new memories elsewhere.
All he had to do was wait for the Captains transfer to be finalized and then he would make his move. He already had a place in mind to buy. With his savings, it should be possible. And assuming Starfleet's interest in the region would only grow it should be a guaranteed way to success…
