((General Biology Labs, level 13, Soldotna))
The android stepped forward and approached one of the consoles. As its arms extended toward the console's interface, its metallic hand transformed into a fluid state, seamlessly integrating with the console. Data and text scrolled across the screen of the console.
Drex: :: At first he stepped forward but then he did not dare to touch the android :: what are you doing?
83J49EW: I am establishing a connection with your systems, arranging the required preparations for your ::paused:: field trip.
Parvana: Your assistance is appreciated, however, it would be best for us to handle the preparations.
83J49EW: I do not understand. ::confused:: I am programmed to offer assistance when required. Do you not require my assistance?
Drex: :: Trying to keep his voice calm:: Please, stop it and disconnect yourself from the systems.
The android attempted to process the information it had received. It felt... ERROR... ERROR... Despite still being connected to the console, it sensed the link to the Station’s information infrastructure gradually slipping away.
Parvana: We understand that, and appreciate your willingness to do so. However, there are protocols to follow.
Protocols. Yes. It comprehended protocols. They brought order to chaos.
Drex: This is not the way we do things… there… :: Trying to sound convincing:: there are… there is a hierarchy to respect and rules to follow.
It slowly withdrew its arm from the console, the liquid metallic substance gradually transforming back into a forearm with hand and fingers. He tilted his head slightly, analyzing the facial patterns currently displayed by the biological creature known as Drex.
Drex: I… I understand you are here to serve and help, but please, I’d really prefer you do it in your original form.
Parvana: Hm. Perhaps that would be best for now. Let us learn more and understand more and get some things in place.
The android turned its attention to the furry one named Parvana. It focused on her eyes, observing their dilation, a physiological response indicating either fear or excitement. Cross-referencing her body language with the data stored in its database, 83J49EW deduced it was likely the latter.
83J49EW: ::to Drex:: You appear to be worried. ::to Parvana:: You, on the other hand, seem to be excited. This is all... ::ERROR ERROR:: confusing.
Drex: I’m more than worried… your ability is terrific and terrifying at the same time. :: His voice cracks slightly, a sign of his true state of mind .:: You cloned our uniform, but can you clone our aspect and voices as well?
The android looked down at the attire it had fashioned for itself, mirroring that of the aliens. It placed its shiny metallic hand on the combadge. It was now integrated into a unit once more. Yet, it instilled terror in the others. ERROR ERROR.
Parvana: Oh that would be a feat.
The android looked up once more, tilting its head slightly as it fixed its gaze on Drex.
83J49EW: My protocols prevent me from causing harm. ::adjusting its voice harmonics to mimic Drex's:: However, it seems that my abilities have caused you distress.
Drex: Response
Parvana: I can see why that would be a concern.
The android observed the change in Parvana’s posture and voice.
83J4EW: Concern. ::head turns slightly left to right:: Concern typically refers to a feeling of worry, interest, or regard about something or someone. It can also indicate a specific issue or matter that is causing worry or attention. ::at Drex:: Please specify ::pauses:: your concern.
Drex: response
Parvana: What are your limitations, 83J49EW? In regards to your ability to shift, I mean. What can you do and what can you not do?
As it attempted to respond to the question, its internal sensors registered a significant decrease in its power system.
83J49EW: I ::pauses, checking internal systems:: Do not know. I am ::ERROR ERROR::
His body transitioned into a fluid state before reshaping itself into a sphere with a dozen tentacles extending in every direction.
Drex: Response
83J49EW: ::in a metallic tone:: My power levels have fallen below 50%. I must return to my basic program.
Drex/Parvana: Response
83J49EW: What will become of me?
It sensed its systems deteriorating further, recognizing that it was only a matter of time before it lost the ability to perform even the most basic functions of its programming. It would revert to nothingness, a slumber from which it would be unable to awaken.
Drex: Response
83J49EW: You must preserve what remains of my memory core before it is too late.
Drex/Parvana: Response
