((Fusion, Downtown, Denali Station))

Host: The Universe has spoken. The realm of your eating has been set.

The Host picked up two bronze tablets. Vaysha took one, Arthur took the other. She almost dropped it back onto the table, with how deceptively heavy it was.

Strathmore: This is the heaviest menu I’ve ever held. ::Beat:: That’s not a sentence I’ve ever thought I would say in my life.

Arthur just let it lay on the table, but this worried him. The table was made of glass. Oh, well, its Fusion’s problem now.

Lennai: Definitely a strange choice. How do you think kids order? Speaking of.

Arthur enjoyed how Vaysha embraced the ludicrous nature of the space. She had a curious mind like him. They should get along swimmingly.

It was at this point Vaysha began scanning the other patrons. Most of the people seated were young adults – comparable in age to Strathmore and Lennai – but there were some older folks as well. Not any kids that they could see.

Strathmore: ::People watching:: Only adults in the know.

Lennai: Well, I suppose the kids don’t think this place is very “cool.” ::smiling:: That, or there’s an age requirement to come here.

Arthur noticed Vaysha enjoyed the word “Cool”. He was glad he introduced her to it.

oO If she likes that 20th-century word, wait until she hears about “Groovy. Another time, perhaps. Oo

Strathmore: I mean, if I was a kid at this place; I’d either be bouncing off the walls or crying from the periodic shrieking sounds. ::Laughs:: What to check out the

Lennai: Right! The menu, let's take a look.

Strathmore: Let’s see here...

It was at this point, the two opened the menus. Inside, was something the two could have never guessed. Or maybe they could have, judging from the environment around them already. Arthur couldn't angle the menu comfortably due to its sheer weight, so he had to awkwardly bring his head down at a 90-degree angle; giving himself a double chin.

The menus were indecipherable at first due to this squirling, nearly illegible font that served far more form than function. But, he finally managed to make out what the menu was saying... Kind of.

Strathmore: Huh, I think this menu is in Romulan. ::Looks more closely:: Yes, it is. But, it looks like a dialect I haven’t seen before.

Arthur knew two dialects of Romulan, the dialect of Romulus and Remus, before their destruction in 2387. The vast majority of Romulans in the Free State and in the Republic spoke this dialect, called Imperial Rihan, but their is another. Originating on Rator III back when it was third chair in the authoritarian, isolationist, and passive aggressive string section that was the Romulan Star Empire in orchestra of the Alpha Quadrant. But now, it was first chair and it was playing a different, yet familiar tune. New Romulus was giving Rator III a good fight in winning hearts and minds of their citizens.

oO May you live in interesting times. Said as a prayer, revealed as a curse. Oo

Arthur looked to Vaysha, doubled chin and all.

Lennai: Response

Strathmore: You’re right, it's not Ratorian Rihan either. ::Realizing:: Wait, you speak Romulan?

oO She speaks Romulan! Oo

Arthur grinned as big as he could possibly grin.

Lennai: Response

Strathmore: ::Speaking Romulan:: Il’ukiudh oa yearhoaiumm’u kleartean aeulleakjs’hnvaelh’n shinarae! (Cheers!)

Of course, the direct translation of that was “May those who oppose us/you fall/crumble/vaporize,” Certainly something a star empire would use as a “good luck” saying.

Lennai: Response

oO She keeps showing me up. I’m not complaining. Oo

Strathmore: Your Romulan is much better than mine.

Lennai: Response

That was when the waiter arrived and the night got a whole lot crazier in a way neither of them would’ve expected.

TAG/TBC

(OOC: Add tags for a waiter named Kayvaan along with Strathmore tags.)
