((Underground Chamber, Beneath Akycha Stadium, Denali Station))

Iko: What do you make of this?

“This” happened to be a standard type-two starfleet phaser, but not only was it’s apparent user not starfleet, the phaser was one that could easily be recognised as an older, discontinued design that had been made redundant.

Jerra joined Iko, scrutinising the weapon.

Dagaz: That's an old type-two phase pistol. Probably over a hundred years old. Where the hell did he get that?

Pom: Now we have two weapons. Three if we count Lieutenant Iko’s skills.

Iko: The thing is…

She walked back and stood over her would-be attacker.

Iko: …we're only meant to have one.

By this time, the man was writhing on the floor, groaning from the beating the Security Officer had just handed him.

Jerra walked over and crouched next to him, drawing his own phaser and pointing it at the man.

Dagaz: I would ask you what you're doing here, but I think that's pretty obvious.

The man simply rolled over, still groaning in pain. As he did so, Jerra was able to get a better look at him for the first time.

Immediately recognisable as a Yridian, it was also clear that he was no Starfleet Officer, as they had suspected.

Dagaz: Ahem! I'm not sure if you've noticed, but your little game is up. Now, you'd better start talking. You've stunned one Starfleet Officer and tried to attack another, those are pretty serious offences, but we could be persuaded to be lenient if you were to tell us who you're working for and why they've got you down here trying to sabotage the Expo.

Yridian: It's the Kalinda. They paid me to knock out the power.

Jerra’s eyebrows raised reflexively, not only had he been expecting a little more resistance from the Yridian, but it seemed Lt. Iko's gut feeling about those Kalinda booth owners had been right.

Iko: Why?

Yridian: I don't know and I don't care. I just do what I'm paid to do, I don't ask questions.

Dagaz: How can we stop the overload?

Yridian: Stop it? I wasn’t paid to stop an overload. You’re on your own for that Federation.

The Yridian let out a sickening, wheezing laugh, covering his mouth as it turned into a cough - at least he had the decency to do that.

By this time, Jerra, who had been crouched next to the man with his phaser pointed at his face, had stood, holstered his phaser and was seriously considering giving him a swift kick in the…ribs.

Iko: It's just us down here. You've already had a taste of my bite, and I would prefer to not force anything out of you.

The saboteur was getting visibly more agitated by the second.

Yridian: We should leave here. ::follows Pom with its eyes, then looks back at Iko and Dagaz:: We don’t have long before…boom! ::snickering:: Time is running out.

Since the others were standing behind him, Jerra had not seen the wordless exchange between Pom and the Yridian, but judging by the sudden change in the man’s expression, he could tell that one of his colleagues was getting too close to figuring something out that he didn’t want them to.

Looking over his shoulder, Jerra saw Pom making his way over to the machines that ran along the wall. No doubt that was what the Yridian was worried about, although, whether he knew it or not, he had much bigger problems coming his way.

Iko: That’s why we’re going to be staying.

Yridian: Do your worst. I won’t tell you anything.

Pom: ::loudly back at the others:: This one is different.

Yridian: ::eyes widened for a moment:: We shouldn’t dawdle. If we’re in this room when the overload happens, it will take us all with it.

Sweat began to drip down the Yridian’s wrinkled face as he looked back and forth between the two officers in front of him and Pom.

Iko: Lieutenant, If you want to help Ensign Pom out, I can keep our new friend company.

Yridian: You’re out of your mind.

Jerra replied with a nod and turned his attention to the machines Pom was looking at. There wasn’t much light in the underground chamber, limiting his Fielding ability, which wasn’t the strongest at the best of times, but even so, he could already tell what the Saurian was seeing on his tricorder.

Pom: Response

Iko: ::to the Yridian:: Unless… you want to help?

She extended her hand to help him off the ground, but it was unaccepted, as was any response from their new friend to her question.

Iko: Then that’s settled then.

Standing next to Pom, now, Jerra looked over the Saurian’s shoulder.

Dagaz: ::to Pom:: Can we power it down somehow?

Pom: Response

The Laudean looked around the room, including at the Yridian.

Dagaz: Anyone have any better ideas?

Yridian: Yes, run!

Iko: Response

Choosing to ignore that, Jerra turned back to Pom.

Dagaz: Do it, Pom.

He closed his eyes and waited for the explosion…

…but it didn’t come.

Slowly opening his eyes again, he saw that the Yridian had done the same, but also had his hands over his ears.

Dagaz: Well, ::patting Pom on the back:: I guess that worked.

(OOC: We’re looking to link this with the crash plot, so moving things forward a bit, to get the ball rolling.)

((Outside Akycha Stadium, Denali Station))

With the overload avoided and the Yridian placed in the custody of Lt. Cmdr. Kendrick and the previously stunned Security Officer, who was now coming round, Jerra, Lt. Iko and Pom made their way back to the surface.

Having only been on the station a matter of hours, Jerra wasn’t personally familiar with the XO, but he at least knew his name and this certainly seemed like something he might be interested in, so, as soon as possible, he opened a com channel.

Dagaz: =/\= Lieutenant Dagaz to Commander Falt. =/\=

Falt: =/\= Response =/\=

Dagaz: =/\= Commander, we seem to have uncovered a plot to disrupt the Expo. We found someone lurking around under the stadium trying to create an overload that would knock out the power. =/\=

Falt: =/\= Response =/\=

Dagaz: =/\= The saboteur was Yridian, but he said he’d been employed by the Kalinda. =/\=

Falt: =/\= Response =/\=

Dagaz: =/\= Aye, Sir. We’ll continue to investigate, in the meantime. Dagaz out. =/\=

Tapping his badge to close the line, Jerra turned back to Pom and Iko.

Dagaz: What do you both think? Head back to that booth?

Iko/Pom: Responses
