Lt. Commander John Kendrick - New Life

John looked up at the blue sky through the large windows of his apartment, the soft light of dawn casting a tranquil glow over the living room. 

Then there was this cooing sound. 

He smiled as he gazed down at the little bundle of joy with the wide blue eyes in his arms. His son. It still felt surreal.

John never realized how much he wanted to be a father until he held his son in his arms for the first time in Sickbay aboard the Eagle. The love he felt was overwhelming, and his whole perspective on the universe and life itself seemed to have changed overnight.

He glanced over his shoulder as he heard Katrina walk up to him. Her exhaustion was evident, but her smile radiated as she watched him with their son. She reached out and gently brushed her fingers against the baby's cheek, her touch so gentle it was as if she were afraid he might break.

Pelley: ::whispering:: Isn't he perfect?

John nodded, his heart swelling with pride. 

Kendrick: ::voice filled with pride:: Absolutely perfect.

The apartment was quiet except for the soft sounds of their son's breathing and the distant hum of the city waking up outside. At this moment in time, John felt a sense of contentment unlike anything he had ever experienced before.

He held his son closer, the feeling of his tiny heartbeat against his chest. And as the first rays of sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden glow over the room, John knew that their journey was only just beginning.
