LtCmdr Kettick: Meeting the new generation

Kettick walked along the alleys of the rooftop garden, his dress whites a stark constrast with the vibrant colours of the flowers around him. His steps carried him past a few new additions to the garden, and he made a note to check with the Botany department about some species that looked like they would make lovely bonsais. 

Those he had donated were faring well, and he allowed himself a contented flick of his facial feelers at the thought that he had contributed to this place in a way that was not simply utilitarian, but existed solely for the pleasure of people in their free time.

And that would last beyond his presence on the Station as long as it was well cared for. A subject that he'd had ample opportunities to reflect on since Commodore Oddas had announced her retirement. The woman had been a near constant in his career, and he could not deny a bit of trepidation mixed with curiosity at the idea of serving under someone else.

Having completed his botanical survey, he turned towards the patio that was soon to host the Awards ceremony. A number of guests had already arrived, and he could see that Tomas was already near the bar, apparently gathering some liquid courage to battle the dislike for public speeches that was so common among the local senior staff. DeVeau and Drex were already by his side, meaning that he would have ample moral support.

A bit further along the bar, the Remmilian spotted a newly familiar face, being that of Ensign Tanner. He and his most recent subordinate had worked together during the last mission, and while it had not featured particularly exciting or glorious moments, Ensign Tanner seemed to have a good head on his shoulders.

The human was in concersation with two of his compatriots and an Andorian male, all Ensigns, and Kettick realized with some dismay that he had yet to meet any of them. Either they were all new arrivals, or his medically-enforced medical rest after their penultimate mission had left him more out of the loop than he had initially thought.

He decided to right that wrong and made his way towards them, with a stopover at the bar to procure some fruit juice along the road.

Kettick: Gentlemen. Ensign Tanner.

Kettick: Chief of Engineering Kettick, pleased to meet you all. And welcome to Denali Station. I hope you enjoyed your stay on the Ring so far.

Kettick nodded, taking a sip of his fruit juice.

Kettick: Quite. It would seem that you have joined us during interesting times, as you humans would say.
