to Denali Station

((CO Conference Room, Anchorage, Denali))

He bowed respectfully in greeting to both Oddas and Falt, doing his best to make sure his smile was recognizably a smile. Especially toward Tomas. He still hadn’t found the time to check in on him as a friend, and a smile was the next best thing as far as he was concerned. At least until he made the time to do more.

Dekas: Marvelous to see you both in good spirits today.

At least he hoped they were in good spirits.

Oddas: Afternoon.

Falt: Response

It was about that time that others also started showing up. He bowed respectfully to them as well. As per usual he was flattered to have Karise (or anyone, really) bow respectfully back.

Kendrick: Response

It was about then, that a Mithgiln stepped into the room, and Dekas found himself somehow excited that he was not the only one with wings. He’d read enough to know that the Mithgiln did not have flight capacity, and there were clear and obvious differences between his own wings and the wings of the Mithgiln in appearance. They were not like bird wings.

In truth, it was far more likely that this one would have more in common with Kettick as a people.

But he felt a little less alone in standing out to a certain degree.

Hirl: Fleet Captain Oddas Aria, I am Varris Hirl, Division Lead, Medical, Mithgiln Expeditionary Force. I’ve been assigned to your command as part of an exchange program.

Indobri: Welcome to Denali Station, Doctor. I’m Karise Indobri, Chief Medical Officer. Glad to have you here.

Kendrick: Response

Oddas: Welcome aboard Doctor, if there is anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to ask.

Dekas nodded amicably.

Dekas: Glad to have you.

Falt / Kendrick / Hirl : Response

The Captain took a long sip of her coffee, then placed the tall stainless steel tumbler on the table next to her food and straightened her tunic.

Oddas:  We have a lot to go over, but I hope to get through it quickly so you can all get back to work.  ::beat::  As we move from ship duty to shore, there are bound to be some changes, but it's all a result of the excellent work you're putting in.  It's just time to reorganize and make sure no one is terribly short-handed - and to make sure you have the ranks you need to do your jobs.  To start, Mister Falt has accepted a promotion to Lt. Commander, and to Executive Officer, effective immediately - so any personnel gripes after today ...

She threw up her hands in mock exasperation and nodded toward the newly minted Lt. Commander.

Falt: Response

If his eyes could have stars in them, they’d be there. Excited for his friend’s move forward. He would have said congratulations out loud, but he was going to let Oddas finish what needed saying first.

Any: Response

Oddas: Second, Commander Cole of the Juneau has need of a more experienced Medical Officer, so Doctor Indobri you'll be transferring over to the Juneau as soon as she's in port.  Also, the paperwork for your Commander's PIP finally came in.  ::smiling widely:: Congratulations Commander Indobri, you've earned it.

More excitement. Somewhat bittersweet in the case of Karise, he enjoyed her presence. But she deserved the promotion, and he trusted it was a good thing for her. It wasn’t like the Juneau wouldn’t be relatively nearby and able to visit sometimes. He really hoped she'd visit.

Indobri: Response

Oddas: Just remind the Commander I know what really happened that night in April, our sophomore year.

Any: Response

Oddas: Of course, that means we need a new Chief Medical Officer, which I'm going to assign you to Doctor Hirl - I know you just got here, but there is no better way to get to know us than by, well, getting to know us.

He didn't know Varris yet, but he was excited to get to know him in such a capacity.

Hirl: Response

And then it was his turn, he’d almost forgotten he was also here for a reason.

Oddas: Mister Dekas.  We need a proper Chief Engineer - the City, the Eagle, and anything else that comes up.  I think it's time we move you up into that position and the Lt. Commander rank that goes along with it.

He found himself a little surprised by both things. And more than honored. He was a humble person in general. Despite how fast he seemed to get these promotions in retrospect, it always shocked him to know that he was doing well enough to deserve them.

Dekas: Thank you, Captain.

People would likely be calling him “Commander” now. Or perhaps “Chief.” Both depending on who was talking to him. He’d do his best to make her proud with such titles.

oO Ah, but to think I just got used to regularly being called "Lieutenant". Oo

Any: Response

Oddas: Finally, Lt. Kendrick.  It is definitely time to promote you to Lt. Commander.  I want a comprehensive plan to coordinate with the Marines and our various vessels on the XO's desk.  Let's make sure we have everything we need now that we're starting to make this our home.

It was apparently a very good day for all of them. And much like everyone else, he shot John a look of joy for him.

Kendrick: Response

Any: Response

Dekas: ::to everyone:: Well, I think that deserves one very big congratulations, no?

Any: Response
