::Renos had just sent Mister Stennes with Dr Pond and Ensign Yamaki to set themselves up somewhere and attempt to communicate with the swarm. With Pond’s xenobiological expertise, Yamaki’s engineering expertise and the many talents of Mister Stennes, the team would be highly skilled and well rounded. Their counsellor was also a highly trained tactical officer and helmsman who had once attained the rank of Lieutenant and had leadership expertise. Though he was no longer a Starfleet officer he still had those years of training and experience to draw from and that was what would make his the perfect leader for that team. Ne had listened to further suggestions from the bridge crew and considered their objectives - establishing the status of the drones, scouting the crash site and ensuring the Borg cannot re-establish communications with the collective, and disabling the weapons installation that was firing erratically towards them. Ne also considered who would be the best fit for each team. Every member of nir senior crew had skills ne valued and putting people in the best place would ensure success.::

Brell: Confirmation the nanites are all now within the sphere. Containment is holding and they don’t seem to be attempting to breach into the rest of the ship.

Traenor: response

Renos: If the swarm becomes a threat we can destroy them by flooding the sphere with a few bursts of high-level gamma radiation. Now as to the Borg threat we need a team to head down to the surface to eliminate the threat from the Borg weapons platform. We’ll need to not only shut it down but take steps to ensure the Borg can’t simply repair of build a replacement. Commander, I want you to take a team down to deal with the weapons threat.

::Actually what ne wanted was to leave him here safe on the ship but to do so would be a great disservice to the officer. It was natural for nem to want to protect someone that meant so much to nem - too much perhaps. This was exactly the reason Starfleet frowned upon relationships between officers, at least or most especially when one reported directly to the other. It created a conflict of interests that ne was now having to work through. As much as it pained nem, ne knew it would be wrong to choose another leader for this task. They were dealing with the Borg and any team going down there needed exceptional, strong leaders with experience and a track record of excellence in their chosen fields. The man for the job was Gordie. Ne could only hope that their security officer would keep them all safe and that they would not be forced into the position for trying to extract anyone from the collective.::

Traenor: response

::Renos nodded in agreeance. They needed their best people on this as it was one of the most pressing threats right now. Since planetary conditions were unstable it made most sense to send down the shuttle. Ne didn’t want to beam them down and unable to get them back during their time of need. By taking a shuttle down they had a means to get back off the planet when they needed to. Lieutenants Logan, Brell and Shayne would ensure the team's success. Their assistant security chief had been with the Darwin a while and was a known quantity, he would bring them all back safely.::

Renos: Agreed. Good luck Commander.

::As those officers moved off the bridge to discuss their preparations and execute their orders Renos considered the next problem. There was a Vinculum and Central Plexus down there that needed to be disabled, or better yet - destroyed. It was essential to ensure the Borg drones have not and cannot re-establish communication with the Collective.  The risk of alerting the Borg Collective to their location and bringing a Borg fleet to the region was too strong to ignore so it needed a dedicated team to tackle that objective. Ne knew exactly who ne wanted in charge of that team - Commander Varaan. The Vulcan had served Starfleet for over 20 years and had served not only as an engineer but as an executive officer, commanding officer and intelligence officer - among other things. He had a wide range of skills beyond engineering and leadership experience and was the perfect choice to lead the team.::

Renos: =/\= Renos to Varaan. I want you to take Commander Jorey as well as Lieutenants R’Ven and Cook down to the surface. You will be scouting the Borg crash site and searching for their Vinculum and Central Plexus. Should you find it then destroy, or at least disable it. It is essential we ensure the Borg drones have not and cannot re-establish communication with the Collective so I’m putting your team in charge of investigating and ensuring the borg remain cut off.

Varaan: =/\= response =/\=

::Commander Jorey left the bridge and by now some of the replacement bridge crew were already in place. As the first two away teams grouped together to plan and get underway, ne continued to analyse the new data coming in and showing up on the viewscreen. Every minute they were there brought more data but for some things it was clear they were going to need to be on the ground. There were still nagging questions that needed to be answered, such as the status of the Borg drones. Every indication so far showed the Borg were separated from the Collective. Renos wanted to know how stable these beings were and if they might be reasoned with. The Borg were always dangerous but were they a greater or lesser threat in these conditions?  They could probably nuke all of the Borg through a multitude of means from orbital bombardment to atmospheric poisoning of bombing… If ne had been inclined to take that route then ne wouldn’t have sent two teams on their way already. Such drastic and extreme action seemed premature and perhaps unethical too. Ne needed to determine the risk to the Pouiyeog region of allowing these Borg drones to remain here, perhaps as a small independent colony - if such a thing could be possible. It was more likely to be possible if they could free the drones from the collective.::

Renos: =/\= Renos to Ensign Dregen and Recruit Iy, I want you both to meet me in conference room 2 in 5 minutes. =/\= Mister Valdivia, you as well. Let’s go, Mister Icavoc - you have the bridge.

Icavoc: Aye Renos.
