Ensign Logan - A new destination

::The Senior staff meeting had proceeded as they always did with the promotions and then awards coming first before the reason that they had all gathered here was shared by the Captain and First Officer. Now the first two had been handed out with a rosewood box sitting on the conference table in front of him which would be placed in a draw along with the others Kurt had been awarded, but now the real reason they had been summoned here::
Renos: I’ve heard some of the speculation going around lately and it’s right - well some of it anyway. The Darwin is being reassigned and so is its crew. We are headed for the Par’tha Expanse where the Darwin and its crew will join the newly formed Andaris Task Force, which will be led by me.
::The Captain sat and turned to look at Commander Varaan who after a brief paused gave the smallest of nods and stood. There was the hint of a lean onto his real leg as the Vulcan moved from sitting to standing, his new artificial prosthetic was working well that and his Vulcan determination had moved the Commander along the rehabilitation route very quickly. To the point that unless you knew what to look for all you would see is a Vulcan with a slight limp::
Varaan: Almost twelve years ago I was given command of the newly commissioned USS Atlantis and was tasked with the apprehension of an ex-Maquis terrorist. With my crew in pursuit, he fled into the Jenatris Cloud. We followed. What we discovered on the other side was extraordinary. The Par'tha Expanse, as it is called, is a conglomeration of various species and worlds far older than the Federation. Atlantis was forced to leave after less than a year for political reasons, but four years later I returned on my own, and lived in the Expanse for the next six years. It was during this time that an aggressive, expansionist species known as the Valcarians began to invade the Expanse. The two powers are currently in a state of war, and the peoples of the Expanse have requested aid. Due to political restrictions, the most Starfleet is able to provide at this time is the Andaris Task Force, a small fleet whose primary goal is relief and peacekeeping.
::He sat down again as Renos nodded and stood once more.::
Renos: Andaris Task Force will be comprised of four vessels - the newly launched Olympic Class USS Blackwell, the Intrepid Class USS Atlantis, the Horizon Class USS Darwin and the Defiant Class El Corazón. The Darwin’s senior staff is predominantly being reassigned to the Blackwell and Atlantis with a few individuals moving to the home station - Deep Space 26. Rennyn, Kell, E’riQ, Thomas, Kalis, R’Ven and Stennes - you will be going to the Blackwell. Rhyn, Brell, Shayne, Logan, Pond, Lambert - you will be joining the Atlantis. For now though, you remain Darwinians so let’s get underway.
::Kurt let the words sink in, so they weren’t going back to the Delta Quadrant that had been a pretty easy guess given the trip to the Alpha Quyadrant while others dismantelled the outpost that the Darwin and its crew had helped build in the first place::
Logan oO Now were off to the Par'tha Expanse where there’s a state of war and the Federation left because of Political pressure which won’t have got any more relaxed. We’re going with an Olympic class which is a flying hospital, the Darwin, neither of them designed for anything other than light combat. Although the Darwin has handled her fair share of fights but she’s no warship. A Defiant class and an intrepid class, well you can see who’s doing the relief and who’s the peacekeepers and there was me hoping for a nice quiet bit of exploring, what is it they say about hope – a bastion for the undisciplined. Still I can contend myself with mid-ships and do what im good at and leave the shiny political things to the shiny bridge crew Oo
::One thing that Kurt heard that wasn’t there were both the Captain and Commander Varaan’s name, which meant one thing they were going to Deep Space 26, it wasn’t hard to put together::
Logan oO The Task force is being led by the Captain and he didn’t say from which ship, Commander Varaan’s knowledge make him suited for some sort of strategic operations set up meaning that those two would still be working closely together. 26 being the home station make’s a perfect place for them to work from. But if those two are on the station who are the Captains going to be ? Oo
Varaan: The Darwin should arrive at the Jenatris Corridor in approximately 18 days, 11 hours and 42 minutes at current speed. It will then take 23.78 hours to traverse the Corridor to the Expanse. In that time, if there is anyone who would like more details regarding the Par'tha Expanse, I will be available to answer any questions. Otherwise, we still have a ship to run. Dismissed.
::Kurt didn’t need much time to pack, from start to finish it would take him about five minutes such was the advantage of living like he did, of course sharing quarters meant most of your belongings were packed away anyway. No there was little for him to do but his duty, as always, and not dwell on the move that fleet had decided on, there were times that he thought that fleet changed things just because they wanted to with little rhyme or reason. The Commanders dismissed heralded a silence from the room that lasted, a lot shorter than could be measured by any computer aboard ship. The Conference room became filled with conversation and speculation, many rushed out straight away including the Captain, Commander Icavoc wasn’t far behind either no doubt of to relay to the rest of the Security department the new developments::
::Of all the Darwin Crew only five were guaranteed to be on the Atlantis with him Rhyn, Brell, Shayne, Pond, Lambert::
Logan oO Tactical, Engineer, Pilot – Ops, Dr, Science. Well that’s the key areas covered, and if what Commander Varaan said is remotely true of the region Tactical is going to be well covered Oo
::Not many people were left the new Dr and Security Officer were talking as was their Vulcan First Officer. Standing to leave he made it only a couple of strides before he caught the eyes of now Lieutenant Sindrana who motioned back to his chair turning he saw the Rosewood box sitting there forgotten. Retracing his steps Kurt picked it up and nodded to the Counsellor before depositing his empty glasses and banana skin in the replicator so the molecules could be broken down and used for the next crew request::

::After a quick trip back to his quarters on Deck 8, Kurt consulted the shifts duty rota, which is why he was now stepping of the Turbo lift onto Deck 13 to begin his rounds of the four decks assign for him to check::
