((USS Darwin, Deck 2, Conference Room))
::With rank promotions concluded, the Captain went onto Ribbons and service awards. Which, given Kael’s current rank, was the only time of the ceremony where he was likely to hear his name mentioned. With this in mind, he paid particular attention. ::
Renos: The last mission should have been as simple as repairing some communications relays but unfortunately we soon found ourselves lured into a trap. Several of our crew were kidnapped and others injured in the line of duty. That’s why the prisoner of war ribbon has been awarded to Thomas, Shayne and Brell, while the purple heart has been awarded to Brell, Valdivia and… myself. You have not suffered for naught, your sacrifice helped us put a stop to Consortium criminals who have been terrorising Federation worlds and this region for some time.
::It was one of those awards that no one really wanted to receive. No one wanted to be taken prisoner it was the guys who risked their lives to save them that need all the gratitude. Thankfully they don’t mention just how many times you have been taken prisoner. For Kael, this was numbering far too highly. ::
Varaan: To all the recipients, your dedication and valour are more than appreciated. The word "congratulations" does not seem appropriate, so I will simply say, Thank You.
Renos: Thank you Commander.
Thomas: Thank you.
Shayne: Thank you, sir.
Brell: Thank you, ner.
Valdivia: Uh... yes... thanks.
Renos: The boarding party sent to the Vanquish risked their lives to save rescue our captured officers. We are all deeply appreciative of the risks they took to bring our people home safe, so I’m proud to present Icavoc, Logan and Valdivia with Gold lifesaving Ribbons. For going above and beyond the call of duty to save injured Talaxians Shayne is awarded a Lifesaving Ribbon.
::Applauding loudly, Kael was always grateful for the work his teammates put in. Particularly grateful when that work results in him beings saved.::
Varaan: Congratulations, all.
Icavoc: Delighted to be of service. I am just relieved that we were successful.
Logan: Thank you Captain, Commander ::softly, nodding to each::
Valdivia: Thank you.
Shayne: ::clearing his throat:: Thank you, sir.
Rhyn: ::whispering:: What do you think is in the last box?
::Commander Varaan smiled and it was made clear.::
Valdivia: Probably the Captain. Ne always has trouble awarding nemself.
Varaan: Fleet Captain Renos, for your marked heroism in your confrontation with the criminal Tor'kath, and leading your crew to the successful rescue of the Talaxians, and overcoming the Vanquish, Starfleet has awarded you the Distinguished Service Ribbon. Congratulations.
Renos: Thank you.
::An excellent reward for what as a challenging time for all. As the room fell silent and waited for the next announcement, the Captain prepared to speak.::
Renos: I’ve heard some of the speculation going around lately and it’s right - well some of it anyway. The Darwin is being reassigned and so is its crew. We are headed for the Par’tha Expanse where the Darwin and its crew will join the newly formed Andaris Task Force, which will be led by me.
Varaan: Response
Renos: Andaris Task Force will be comprised of four vessels - the newly launched Olympic Class USS Blackwell, the Intrepid Class USS Atlantis, the Horizon Class USS Darwin and the Defiant Class El Corazón. The Darwin’s senior staff is predominantly being reassigned to the Blackwell and Atlantis with a few individuals moving to the home station - Deep Space 26.
::Kael already knew most of the broader details and as such he waited on the incoming dot points. It would be a new transition for the crew but they were professionals. They’d led an effort to establish a presence in the Delta Quadrant, how hard can doing the same thing around the corner from home really be?::
Renos: Rennyn, Kell, E’riQ, Thomas, Kalis, R’Ven and Stennes - you will be going to the Blackwell. Rhyn, Brell, Shayne, Logan, Pond, Lambert - you will be joining the Atlantis. For now though, you remain Darwinians so let’s get underway.
Varaan: Response
::They were to get underway on a journey that would take them likely weeks. The time wasn’t a problem because they spent all their time on the ship in a normal day anyway at least this time travelling to a destination meant they had purpose. Getting up to speed with the new ships assigned to the expanse would be Kael’s priority over the coming weeks. He didn’t like surprises and he knew very well that knowing layout and capabilities of ships you’ll be serving on or near too was particularly important. The Par’tha expanse was also foreign to Kael although he had a feeling it should be familiar. In any case, as Kael got up to leave the room, he knew very well he had enough to occupy his time.::
