((Alpha Quadrant, USS Darwin, Deck 10, On Route To The Par’tha Expanse ))
::Hours had passed after the Senior Officers meeting where promotions had been granted and awards from the last mission had been handed out, since then Kurt had walked his assigned area for this duty shift checking doors for any signs of forced entry, door sensors for unauthorised access, Security points in case alerts are called. Indeed all the usual routine shift on shift duties that many found boring but when the lives of the crew were in the balance boring couldn’t translate into lax work, especially now with the announcement in the meeting of the new mission and appointments which by now was more than likely to have been relayed to the majority if not every one of the 200 crew. Minds were now most likely to wander then return to normal as the travel to the expanse continued then waver again as they arrived, Kurt was no longer in charge of anything after having been moved from the Assistant Chiefs job now he was just a normal Security Officer. But the knowledge of the other Officers in the Department made him make a note to talk to the other shift leaders so they could go over any questions and get them back focused on the job at hand::
::Kurt didn’t know how many would be staying on the Darwin, or if everyone was leaving being split between the Blackwell and the Atlantis::
Logan oO Well considering that an Intrepid class has 150 crew compared to our 200 means not everyone would move straight across anyhow. Not to mention an Olympic class has upwards of 700 crew and were a lot short if it’s just the Darwin crew that’s manning them both Oo
((Deck 10, Drive Section))
::Federation ships were the epitome of uniformity, not that that was a bad thing at all every species did that with their own ships and bases. Cultural influences always impacted on the designs so it was easy to know whether you were on board a Vulcan ship compared to an Andorian one,so it was with federation ships such as the Darwin here the only difference were the corridors. On the sphere section most corridors were curved to make the most use of the space provided, but here in the relatively straight drive section most corridors were… straight. Arriving on Deck 10 Kurt begun working his way round towards Main sickbay, once finished there he would then head to the Sphere section to begin his round there. That’s when one of the new Officers came into view, the new Security Officer to be exact although at six foot two he couldn’t be confused with many others. Kurt knew first hand just how hard it could be being newly assigned to a ship, trying to fit in, work out what is where, get all your clearances sorted and quarters… only to be told don’t get to comfortable your moving again::
Logan oO The only thing that is constant is Fleets love of change Oo
::He hadn’t had the chance to talk with Janus Kell yet, but knowing Betazoid’s he would find a way to fit in regardless::
Logan oO Or is that Betazoidian’s ?... I’ll have to look that up sometime Oo
::Seeing as he was heading toward sickbay Kurt called over to him as he changed his direction towards him::
Logan: Ensign Kell, Ensign Logan haven’t had a chance to meet you since you came aboard
::He had the classic black pupils of his race, not the complete dark pools of the Rodulan people as typified by their own Lieutenant R’ven. Where you didn’t know if he was looking at you at any point in time or not, the Betazoidian::
Logan oO You know I don’t care if that’s the right word or not it’s a good one Oo
::The Betazoidian eyes had only dark pupils yet still they had the feel of sucking you in and staring right through you at the same time, but that could be because they were attached to known telepathic species so people projected that onto their eyes. Such things were a bit too deep for Kurt he much preferred the ‘they have dark pupils’ and leave it there::
Kell: Response
Logan: Well not aboard for long ::Chuckling lightly:: given the news at the meeting
Kell: Response
Logan: You’ll get used to it in Fleet. Your moved around here there and everywhere, sometimes you’re lucky and it’ll be with some people you already know other times it won’t be.
Kell: Response
Logan: Well so far I’ve had placement order for nine ships, if you count the Atlantis, and will have served on four. Go figure
