(( Quarters Rajel ))
Jalana had left Cade’s quarters despite wanting to stay there.
However since this was a high priority call from HQ, she knew she
couldn’t just do this in front of him. Classifications were a
finicky thing. On her way to her quarters the Trill had contacted
Diz’mim to instruct him to go to a secure place so he could listen
in. While there were things that were only for her ears, as soon
as she knew what this was about she could have Diz’mim listen in
as well, to avoid having to repeat herself too many times.
As soon as she entered she moved to her desk where the Starfleet
Symbol rotated impatiently waiting for her to accept the call
already. She put her tea cup down and pressed the button. The
woman on the other side did not look too impressed by having been
put on hold for this long.
Hayes: Commodore Rajel, finally.
Jalana brushed over the backside of her dress skirt and sat down
offering an apologetic smile that only reached one of her eyes.
Rajel: Sorry, Valerie. I had to get back to my quarters first to
take your call. Depending on what it is about I want to loop in my
First Officer. Having to repeat myself will just take valuable
time.
Steel blue eyes on the screen squinted slightly before exhaling
with a shake of her head. The Admiral was used to this specific CO
calling her by first name by name, it wasn’t an indication of her
respect or the way she worked. Heraan had let her know about that
when she took over the sector.
Hayes: Fine. He’ll have to be informed anyway.
The Trill nodded and pressed the button to open the threeway
communication.
Rajel: Alright he’s listening. Please go ahead and let us know
what this is about.
((OOC: Jonathan agreed that Diz’mim will be a silent listener
until the end of this scene :) ))
The Admiral leaned back and nodded before pulling up a file on
their screen.
Hayes: How much do you know about the USS Icarus, NX-8461?
Jalana furrowed her brows. She knew a lot about many things but
that didn’t mean that you could just throw a name and number at
her head without preparation and expect her to know.
Rajel: Doesn’t ring a bell.
Hayes: ::grinning:: Good, that means our security measures still
work. The USS Icarus was a classified prototype that vanished 136
years ago. It carried a new type of drive at the time and was
believed to be lost with all hands.
Leaning forward Jalana furrowed her brows.
Rajel: Believed to be? So it was not?
Hayes: That is where you come in. Our long range sensors picked up
the Icarus transponder signal in the Gamma Canaris region, before
it went quiet again. We’ll need you to head there, check on the
signal and should the Icarus really be back, find out what
happened to them 136 years ago and why they are back now.
Jalana split the view on her screen to keep Hayes on one side and
pulled up a map on the other as soon as the Admiral mentioned
Gamma Canaris. It was a good way south, past Gamma Orionis… past
the Marchlands border.
Rajel: What kind of drive did they have to get this far down over
a hundred years ago?
Valerie smiled when Jalana picked up on that and nodded slightly.
Hayes: It was an experimental hyperwarp propulsion drive. I cannot
even begin to explain how it works, which is why I will send you
someone to help. Dr. Aurdax is a scientist familiar with the tech
behind the drive and how it works. She’ll be able to work with
your Engineers and Scientists for the retrieval and analysis of
the activity logs and such. She’s en route already and will arrive
within the next two hours.
Rajel: Good. But Valerie, the Constitution is not ready to leave
yet, they are still working hard on our upgrades and repairs.
Replacing a whole shuttle bay was a lot more complicated than just
repairing it and that was not the only thing they were doing with
the ship after all.
Hayes: I know. That is why I spoke with Ro’kal, Tucker’s Captain.
There was no ship in the docks that’s fully done, but one of the
ships was mostly done and the important areas are fully
operational, the rest would be just cosmetics. The USS Aleek-Om, a
Nova Class Starship.
Nova. Jalana knew Nova ships, they were really small, especially
compared to the Conny. Hayes seemed to realize those thought
processes, maybe Jalana didn’t hide it well or she had the same
thought, who knew.
Hayes: You can only take a limited amount of Crew with you, I know
it’s different from your ship. But if you focus on the right
people next to your senior staff it should be going without a
hitch. If you have to tow the Icarus the Nova is strong enough to
handle that.
Rajel: I understand. I figure you want us to head out sooner
rather than later?
Hayes: Yes. We don’t know if we are the only one who picked up
that signal and with it being outside of Federation space that can
become messy. The sooner you get there and get that ship back to
us, the better.
Rajel: :nodding: Alright, you got it.
Hayes: And Commodore, it has been a long time…
Jalana exhaled and nodded. 136 years. Not too many species that
would have been part of Starfleet would live longer than that.
There was a good chance that nobody on the Icarus was alive any
more. Hayes didn’t have to finish that sentence. There would be a
ship full of corpses waiting for them.
Rajel: Got it. We’ll get them home to their families at least.
Everyone deserves closure.
Hayes: Didn’t expect anything different from you. I’m looking
forward to your report. Hayes out.
The screen turned black before the Starfleet Symbol started to
rotate on it again. Jalana took a deep breath and then
remembered…
Rajel: =/\= You heard that all Dizzy? =/\=
Ch’Nilmani: =/\= Response =/\=
Rajel: =/\= I’ll explain to the crew once we are on the ship and
Dr. Aurdax is there to explain anything I don’t know about. =/\=
Ch’Nilmani: =/\= Response =/\=
Rajel: =/\= Yes. Find out where the Aleek-Om is docking and recall
our Senior Staff to that ship and find their departments. We have
no time to waste. =/\=
((OOC: While Jonathan will send a sim to recall you guys, feel
free to already bring yourself to the Aleek-Om, interrupting your
shore leave activities. For this mission everyone can bring 1 PNPC
in addition to their Character because we have limited space on
the ship. So if you have several ones choose who you want to bring
if you want to bring someone. The rest will be left behind. :) ))
