((Sickbay, Deck 5 - USS Icarus))

Douffet: They are going to help. This group seems to know what they are doing. I have hope.

With a deep breath, he moved forward again with another message.

PADD(Douffet): [What do you ne.d us to d. on our si.de?]

Lystra: [We’re discussing that, one moment please]

The trio seemed to be talking amongst themselves.

Pretak: They seem really focused on bringing us back.

Douffet: It does seem so. I hope they can pull it off.

Pretak: Is this something you’re used to? You know how it works?

Bryon tilted his head side to side for a moment.

Douffet: I have used it a few times. Not many though.

PADD(Lystra): [The Neural Interface has power. Can one of you see if you can fit your head inside it and do the same thing you did with the PADD? Try thinking of your response.]

The doctor gestured to the device. It was better if Pretak tried it first so Bryon could be at the ready in case something went wrong.

Pretak: Okay, I’ll try

Douffet: Are you sure? There is no pressure here. I will go first if it makes you more comfortable.

Pretak: You’re the doctor, you’re the one who will notice if something’s wrong and why, to tell them what they need to thcnage. Besides, if something goes wrong, you’re the best person to find a solution to try it again. This way, we have two chances.

The doctor nodded. He was in full agreement, but didn’t want to push the Lieutenant to do anything he wasn’t ready to.

Douffet: Alright, ::holding his hand towards the device:: go ahead.

Pretak tried to connect with the PADD but it didn’t seem to work.

Pretak: Maybe being a different device, it needed a different kind of focus.

Douffet: You just need to relax and think about your words. Maybe even speak them out loud to see if that helps.

The trio continued to converse amongst themselves again.

Lystra: [Our shipmates figured out a temporary way to get direct contact for a few seconds, we’re going to see if we can replicate it. Please, sit tight. We’re going to do everything we can to help you and your crew.]

Bryon nodded towards the woman, before feeling absolutely silly and remembering she can’t see him.

Pretak: Okay, if they can make this work, would that mean that I can access directly the computer for it to write what I think?

He fought the urge to nod again, even if the person talking to him this time could see him.

Douffet: Yes. In theory that’s how it should work.

Pretak: It’ll be a curious experience. I’ve never used one of those. Can we expect we’ll focus like with the PADD or it should be easier?

Douffet: It should be easier. It's as easy as just thinking about your response, but it still may take some extra energy, so don’t wear yourself out too quickly.

There was a moment. Where everything felt different. He wasn’t sure how to explain it or if there even was a difference.

Bryon was fairly certain, one of them was looking directly at them.

Foster: Well, hello there, who are you?

The doctor pointed at himself then at Pretak in a confused gesture.

Douffet: Me or him?

Pretak: Response

Lystra/Brexis: Response

Whatever the members of the Constitution did, it seemed to be working.

Foster: I’m Lt. Commander Cade Foster, Chief Medical Officer.

Douffet: I am Doctor Bryon Douffet. ::Gesturing around:: This is my sickbay you’ve been rummaging through.

It was a low blow for a much celebrated moment, but he wasn’t about to forget what they had done.

Pretak: Response

Lystra/Brexis: Response

Foster: What is the last thing you remember before you ended up incorporeal?

Douffet: I was here. In the sickbay. One moment I was trying to find where my M7 Medical Drone was, ::looking disgusted as he looked towards the cabinet:: Then next thing I know I am waking up on the floor. Now we’re here.

He shrugged, almost feeling silly again, but as far as he could tell this time, they could actually see him.

Pretak: Response

Lystra/Brexis: Response

Douffet: You said we’ve been gone for 100 years… How is that even possible?

Pretak: Response

Lystra/Brexis/Foster: Response

((OOC: Since this scene is getting a little bit bigger I am not pushing it out too far.))
