Ba'el: ::Smiling:: Ah, visitors, Come in

Ba'el watched as the two women crossed the room to stand by her bed.

Rajel: How are you feeling, Ba'el?

Sherana: Were you hit in the attack?

Ba'el: ::To Jalana:: I'm feeling better now, thank you. ::To Sherana:: My Work Bee pod was damaged and I was forced to eject without a suit and returned to the ship the hard way.

Sherana nodded, seemingly satisfied with Ba'el's response. On the other side, Jalana did not seem to be satisfied with Ba'el's response, and asked more questions.

Rajel: Shouldn't be much longer then. ::She nodded slightly and then crossed her arms.:: Now that I know you're okay... what were you thinking??

oO Ah, Good visitor, bad visitor. Should have seen this one coming Oo

In all fairness to Jalana, Ba'el wasn't too surprised by her questions. Jalana was a caring commander and any injuries suffered by her crew she took as a personal failing. Nonetheless, she wasn't going to apologize for her choices.

Ba'el: ::Sitting up straighter:: I was thinking like the Starfleet officer I was trained to be at the academy. Trained to make quick decisions when seconds counted the most, and there was no time to waste.

Rajel: Did neither of you two consider to use the arms of Dizzy's worker bee to tow you off instead of risking your life?

The Klingon in Ba'el's heart roared at Jalana's insult. The Counselor in her head tempered that response before it slipped out.

oO  Too spicy! Too spicy!! Oo

Ba'el: It was considered and ::holding up a hand to forestall Jalana's response:: disregarded. The manipulators did not have the dexterity for such a delicate task. One small mistake and I would have suffered crushed limbs, and possible become entangled with the grapplers which would have resulted in my death.

Rajel: Respond

Sherana: Respond

Ba'el: Commander Ch'Nilmani and I had no other options and time was running out quickly. So we adapted, we improvised and we overcame the obstacles needed to ensure success. It is not, I grant you,  a success wrapped up in a pretty bow, but I and the Commander both survived.

Rajel: Respond

Sherana: Respond

Ba'el gave Jalana a moment to let that sink in before continuing.

Ba'el: You know, at the academy, I was not on the command track.

Rajel: Respond

Ba'el: On the command track, Cadets are faced with a multitude of scenarios to test their future potential as leaders. On such test, the notorious "No Win Scenario" has been a staple of the program for over a century. Even in the Empire this kind of test has been used to mark leadership potential.

Rajel: Respond

Ba'el: As I said, I was not on the command track, and yet this was my...what was it once called?...Ah yes, the "Kobiyashi Maru". This was my no win scenario, and yet I found a solution. It wasn't elegant, but I still stand by my decision.

Rajel: Respond
