Commodore Jalana Rajel - Like a magpie attracted to shiny things

After giving her crew a bit of time to talk and mingle, and a
little chat with Nny'eke'a-Rin, Jalana finally stood in front of
the crew and inhabitants of Paioke Colony. She moved the
microphone back to a higher position though not as high as the
Kameryan men, after all she was pretty small.
Rajel: That was a beautiful ceremony wasn't it? I believe that I
speak for all of us when I say that it is a huge honor that you
chose to include us in your new name, Nny'eke'a-Rin. Thank you.
And I believe Sir Bolen will appreciate that you honored the
colony that he helped building up as well. ::She smiled
brightly.::
Anyone: Response
Rin grinned widely and nodded waving to everyone. Then Jalana
became more somber.
Rajel: While most of you have seen this before and know that I
enjoy these shiny parties - as I like to call them - very much. We
will have to begin this one differently.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: Before we come to celebrate our accomplishments of our past
missions, I would like to say a few words for those who cannot be
here to join these celebrations. During the take over two officers
on the bridge stood up against the changeling Kidha despite the
danger it would put them in. We remember Ensign Siann and
Lieutenant Laura Anderson for their bravery against an enemy of
the Federation. ::She paused:: While Captain Nugra was locked in
an airlock about to be discharge into space Lieutenant Junior
Grade Ollo Two thought fast and moved into the bowels of the ship
to stop the process in lieu of our controls of the ship controls.
The battle before had damaged several parts of the ship and
started a cascade which discharge the conduit which he was working
at. We remember Lt. JG Ollo 2 for his sacrifice that saved another
officer's life.
She lowered her head in silence to honor the three officers that
had lost their lives.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: While they will not see these any more. I am awarding
Ensign Siann and Lieutenant Laura Anderson with the Distinguished
Service Ribbon for their bravery to stand up against an enemy of
the Federation. I also am rewarding a post humorous Purple Heart
to Lieutenant JG Ollo Two for his sacrifice and the Gold
Lifesaving Ribbon for saving Captain Nugra's life. These ribbons
will be sent to their next of kin.
Anyone: Response
Jalana took a deep breath and cleared her throat.
Rajel: The next ribbons I'll hand out will be for our mission that
brought us to Paoike Colony. When we came here the Colony was
suffering from a strange condition that affected all the crop and
plants not knowing what it was. It threatened the colony to run
low on food. Over time it also began to affect animals through the
congestion of the affected food and then also Nny'eke'a-Rin who as
an Ular Kameryan is especially connected to Earth. I am proud of
every single Officer and Civilian who joined us in the efforts of
not only finding out what was wrong but finding solutions. ::She
paused.:: Because there would be too many names to listen, allow
me to award the following ribbons to every crew member who was
involved in the mission.
She paused briefly and offered a smile to the group before her.
Rajel: The Joint Meritorious Unit Award for participation in a
joint action with Paoikek Colony towards a common goal. ::She
paused briefly before continuing.:: The Starfleet Investigation
Ribbon for investigating and discovering the source of the
contamination; and :once more she paused.:: the Medical Science
Ribbon for successfully finding and enacting a cure to this
dangerous disease that was on its best way to infect not only the
colony but the planet as a whole if not stopped. With your actions
you saved the lives of the colonists through scientific research,
determination and personal risk. Thank you all and
congratulations.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: Now we come to a few Service Ribbons rewarded to specific
officers. Mingxing Shimisi. When the beast got loose in the
village, spooked by lightning in the forests, you and Kimberly
Stapledon have thought fast and distracted the animal by setting
your phasers to emit a high frequency pitch that disoriented it.
For that both of you receive the Innovation Ribbon. Kimberly is
receiving hers from her new CO, so I am happy I can hand yours to
you. Since I did not assume that any of you have big pockets with
you your earned ribbons will be delivered to your quarters upon
our return to the ship. Congratulations Mingxing.
Mingxing/Anyone: Response
Rajel: When the same beast was loose in the village it several
Officers were injured. It could have been a lot worse if not for
the people who charged in to save her in different ways. Akeelah
D'Sena lead a Security team -consisting of herself, Sarai Porter
and Lafe Vernon- to disable the creature, while Indrid Yirah and
Atan Evria got Ellie out of the way as the creature started to
charge her. For that I am awarding all five the Silver Lifesaving
Ribbon.
Indrid/Anyone: Response
Rajel: As we can see here it was quite a group effort. Now to the
injured Officers. In the process of attempting to chase the
creature out of the village Eleanor Park and Sherana were injured
and while I am not one to reward getting wounded, this is what the
ribbon is for. I reward you both the Purple Heart. Don't make it a
habit. T'Ama was injured as well, though for different reasons,
and her ribbon will be handed over by her new Commanding Officer.
Park/Anyone: Response
Rajel: While our crew was dealing with the side effects of the
contamination, tried to find out what was going on and fix it,
Laria Herren worked on another area together with T'Ama using
their Diplomacy skills to calm down heated heads to ease worries
and help make educated decisions. For that I award Laria and T'Ama
the Diplomacy Ribbon, as before T'Ama will receive hers from her
new CO. I am happy to be able to award it to you, Laria.
Congratulations.
She was not one to proclaim out here in the open in front of the
inhabitants of the Colony that this event had to do with their
mayor attempting to flee when shit hit the fan. He had stayed, and
continued to lead, that was what counted now. She had no reason to
humiliate him and break the trust that people had in him.
Herren/Anyone: Response
With a smile the Trill looked into the round and raised her voice
again.
Rajel: If you think that this was a lot, we are not done yet.
While enjoying this planet we were suddenly called away by an
emergency call for help by Hermes outpost. We could not have known
what awaited us there. In our mission to help, we did not only
deal with the Lattice Alliance Rogue pirate ships attempting to
destroy the outpost and our ship, but Changelings trying to take
over the Constitution. Two unrelated events that still happened at
the same time. Once more I will award certain ribbons to groups
first.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: For all officers that were part of the Constitution at any
time during our last mission, I award you with the Defense of The
Isles ribbon for fighting and defending Federation Space against
the Lattice Alliance. For dealing with the Changeling Threat on
the Constitution, I award you with the Changeling Champaign
Ribbon. As these events were related to the attacks on the
Federation during Frontier day, I also award you all the Frontier
Day Ribbon for defending the Federation during this crisis. Thank
you for your hard work during this challenging time.
Anyone: Response
Rajel: While the whole crew has dealt with these challenges, a
part of the crew was directly involved in the resistance to the
changeling infiltrators, facing them directly and head on to get
our ship back. These Officers and Civilians have distinguished
themselves with extraordinary bravery and courage and are rewarded
with the Starfleet Medal of Commendation. These people are Diz'mim
Ch'Nilmani, Atan T'Seva, Lystra, Mingxing Shimisi, Ba'el, Yito
Seja, T'Mar, Anath G'Renn, Dinaes, Rachel Flores, Daniel Cain,
Maiman Terpes, Nugra, Mylas Bosko, Atan Evria, Atan Lera ::Yes the
child deserved the ribbon even though she was not an officer or
adult::, and Savok.
((OOC: There were so many names of those that directly resisted
and got the ship back. Should I have forgotten someone please
don't take it personally. They most definitely earned that ribbon
too! :)
Anyone: Response
Rajel: Now to outstanding actions during this mission. Diz'mim
Ch'Nilmani had a difficult task. As the Changelings posed as Laria
and me he stood alone as the sole ship lead. He did not only have
to lead the crew into an armed resistance against the imposters to
protect and retake the ship. He also managed to maintain the trust
of the crew despite strong suspicion against himself and the rest
of the crew as the infiltrators tried their darndest to put the
crew against each other. For these actions I awarded him the
Superior Support Ribbon and the Legion of Merit. Congratulations
and thank you.
Ch'Nilmani/Anyone: Response
Rajel: Atan T'Seva, you too managed to keep the trust of the crew
despite the suspicion against you and anyone else, which as a
Chief Tactical officer who works closely with Security would be
quite detrimental if it failed. Alongside Diz'mim you also lead
the resistance against the Changeling infiltrators and I am
thrilled to award you with the Legion of Merit.
T'Seva/Anyone: Response
Jalana took a deep breath. While she could check on the PADD which
ribbons were still outstanding, she didn't have to. She always had
a pretty good memory, it might be that doctor training.
Rajel: Lystra and Ba'el. As news of the Frontier Day disaster
began to reach the ship, you have worked hard to calm the crew and
civilian complements of the ship. This was not an easy task and
deserves recognition. Im awarding both of you the Unity Ribbon for
these efforts.
Lystra/B'ael/Anyone: Response
Rajel: ::She paused and briefly gave the purple haired Boslic a
look.:: Lystra, I do keep saying it over and over to not overdo
it, but I am still keep awarding you new Purple Hearts. So I am
now. ::her one eyed gaze softened.:: You were injured as you took
the charge of an overloading phaser blast to protect a fellow crew
member, Dinaes. So in addition to the Purple heart you also are
awarded the Gold Lifesaving Ribbon.
Lystra/Anyone: Response
Rajel: That also means that Dinaes got hurt in the line of duty.
Most Cadets are not in the line of fire during their training, but
those that choose to join the on hands education on Starships may
experience that. Dinaes has. We are glad that she is still with us
and I am awarding her the Purple heart.
Dinaes/Anyone: Response
Rajel: Mingxing Shimisi. You were in the Hermes outpost to work on
the repairs when the crew down there was cut off from the ship and
had only limited knowledge of the things going on up there. As
Chief of Engineering Lida turned out to be an infiltrator, you
were the de facto leader of the on ground crew. You lead them to
the best of your ability and knowledge and from the reports I got
you did a pretty fine job with that. So I hereby award you with
the Leadership Excellence Ribbon. Congratulations and well done.
Shimisi/Anyone: Response
Rajel: Sometimes we have to think outside the box, especially when
we cannot ask the leadership for guidance. Rendov Felbri did that
by trying to find ways of identifying intruders and secure the
chain of command without being able to check with the ship's
leadership. For that I am honored to awards the Excellence in
Adaptability Ribbon to Rendov. Congratulations.
Felbri/Anyone: Response
Looking over the group her eyes looked for someone and found her
in the back.
Rajel: Azura Ada. You had a hunch that something was wrong and
went to find out for yourself what was happening. In the progress
you figured out who some of the imposters are and warned the crew,
so they could be careful and prepare themselves. For that work you
receive the Starfleet Investigation Ribbon. Congratulations and
good work.
Ada/Anyone: Response
Rajel: I have read the reports and know that the Constitution was
locked down by one of the imposters. That meant that everyone had
to find ways to access systems we could not otherwise. Rachel
Flores found a way to circumvent the systems by cutting the
defense systems from the main computer and connect them to a new
power source to be able to use tactical systems and allow the
Constitution to defend herself. Chandni Kapoor proposed the idea
to use the ship's autopilot system by throwing dangerous material
into its flight path so that the ship would steer away from it.
That way the Conny was able to run basic evasive maneuvers when we
were under attack. For these solutions I am thrilled to award
Rachel and Chandni the Innovation Ribbon. Well done and
congratulations.
Flores/Kapoor/Anyone: Response
Rajel: While we were under attack, the forces of the Lattice
Alliance came onto us strong. Not only had they brought their main
ships but also smaller crafts that badgered us relentlessly.
Marine Captain T'Aven displayed an act of heroism when she piloted
a single Valkyrie Fighter into the enemy ground and used the
stealth mode of the vessel to infiltrate the group and serve as a
diversion by shooting the smaller vessels, leading to said vessels
shooting onto each other and destroying themselves. This gave the
Constitution some breathing room to regroup and focus their fire
on the main ships of the Lattice Alliance. For this act it is my
honour to award T'Aven the Distinguished Service Ribbon.
T'Aven/Anyone: Response
Rajel: Not everyone of the crew was able to join the efforts to
take the ship back and fight off the attacker. These officers had
been taken hostage and replaced by the infiltrating Changelings.
In consequence to the imprisonment these officers were also
injured. The following Officers are therefore receiving a Purple
Heart for their injuries and the Prisoner of War Ribbon. Laria
Herren, Eleanor Park, Lida Khenn.. ::She hesitated before
adding.:: Jalana Rajel. We are glad that all of you are still with
us and hope that will have the proper care to heal from visible
and invisible wounds left by the vicious attack.
Herren/Park/Khenn/Anyone: Response
With another deep breath, Jalana briefly closed her eye. The fresh
air, the scent of nature around them was calming and pleasant.
Maybe she should visit nature more often. As she opened her eye
again she smiled gently.
Rajel: This was quite a lot wasn't it? I am so sorry - not - to
tell you that I am not done. ::A little smirk played around her
lips.:: Ba'el. Where are you?
Ba'el: Response
Jalana smiled seeing her and kept her eye on the Klingon.
Rajel: Since your arrival on the Conny you have been dedicated to
the mental health of your fellow crew members. And we are neither
making it easy for you, nor does the work ever stop. This hard
work does not remain unseen by Laria, Commander Ch'Nilmani or me.
Based on your exemplary work we are excited to promote you to
Lieutenant Junior Grade with all privileges and responsibilities.
Instead of calling Ba'el to her, she stepped off the little stage
and walked over to Ba'el. Reaching into her pocket she briefly
checked if it was the right pin and smiled as she held her palm
out to give the full pip to the Klingon, the other hand was held
out for a shake.
Rajel: Congratulations, Lieutenant Junior Grade.
Ba'el/Anyone: Response
Once Ba'el had taken her pip Jalana returned to the stage.
Rajel: Ellie, show yourself.
Park: Response
Rajel: We haven't made this job easy for you either didn't we?
Healing us from injuries we either got in the line of duty or
because we did something stupid. ::She smirked slightly.:: You
have worked tirelessly to keep us all in one piece. You have taken
on the duties of Assistant Chief of Medical in a stride, despite
it all. You have more than deserved that we adjust your rank to
fit your position. So we are happy to promote you to Full
Lieutenant with all privileges and responsibilities.
Once more Jalana climbed off the state to head over to Ellie,
retrieving another pip from her dress pocket. She did not have to
check, because there were only two in there. She placed it on her
palm and held that out to Ellie, as the other hand was held out
for a shake.
Rajel: Congratulations, Lieutenant.
Park/Anyone: Response
With a smile Jalana returned to the stage. Despite her own
negativity in these times, shiny parties always managed to cheer
her up. It wouldn't last forever but she would take it for as long
as she could. Forget what else was going on and focus on her crew
and cheering them on in their endeavours.
Rajel: Last but not least... Mingxing.
Shimisi: Response
Rajel: You have shown that you use your Engineering Skills for the
best of the crew and that you look at situations from all angles
to find the best way to use your talents to solve problems the
engineering way. This kind of talent is what we look for in a
leader. Because of that I am excited to promote you to Assistant
Chief Engineer as of immediately with all rights, privileges and
responsibilities. Congratulations!
Shimisi/Anyone: Response
Jalana took another breath and smiled, glancing over the faces
looking at her.
Rajel: This was it, you made it! Congratulations. And please allow
me to finish with words of my deep gratitude towards you all. To
the colonists that allowed us to be here today celebrating with
them and to my crew who shows up every day, bringing life into the
ship which without them would merely be some metal and a lot of
tech. You make the Conny what she is. A home. Thank you. Now
please, celebrate!
She bowed slightly and stepped back, dismissing her crew so they
could go on to have some fun.
