Jin'Tauri: Stand still a moment t’gon ::they threw Avoo’na’s own casual term back at them.:: If we are right, and the invaders are studying us as much as we are them, then why give them what they want right away. Besides, I don’t like that one, at least one, of their squad has disappeared. That one could show up again and trap you.
Avoo’na: What do you suggest?
Jin’Tauri: It might be best if we lead them in a random direction. We don’t know if they know who we are. If their interest in the obsidian is any indicator, we don’t have to reveal ourselves. We only need to leave tegra bits.
((OOC: “tegra bits”, the earth equivalent of “breadcrumbs”))
Avoo’na: Good point, no need to put our best bait on the lure if a lesser quality bait does the job.
Jin’Tauri: Perhaps we can try to sensor ghost their scanning device. If we set up an energy echo, we could bounce an energy pulse like the voice throwers bounce the sound of their voices back home. We could add occasional encrypted data signals to keep them curious. The data signals would be gibberish of course, but they might mistake the gibberish for another encryption.
Avoo’na: Awesome idea, t'gon. ::pause:: This energy pulse, it's not like echolocation where the sound bounces back to the sender?
Jin’Tauri: it works on a similar principle since our communications are frequency based, but instead of bouncing it back to the us, we bounce it to the invaders by angling the transmission reflection
One of the invaders looked up, and Jin’Tauri thought they caught something that may have been speech, but the invader, if he was speaking, was too far away to hear more than a whisper.
Avoo'na: They have turned their attention away from the rock.
Jin'Tauri: Such short attention spans. ::they sniffed somewhat disdainfully:: that means we have to increase the gamble to keep the invaders’ attentions.
Avoo'na: If you can make it seem as though the energy is coming from somewhere else, could we try to make it seem like there are more of us? Create the illusion of more teams?
Jin'Tauri: ::they rubbed their left ear thoughtfully:: Within a certain scope, yes. We can only send out so many signals and messages at once, but we should be able to bounce several signals around.
Avoo’na: Response
Jin’Tauri: Since they know we are here because we cut the obsidian, :they tapped the communications and scanner on their wrist:: let’s see what these interlopers do if we send a single signal from the opposite direction.
They picked up the tele-binocs and watched for the reaction. The signal was bounced off the hard stone near the valley entrance. Jin’Tauri knew from her years of study which rocks were better suited to bouncing frequencies off of, and which would absorb the sound.
oO Fortunately, this planet is littered with hard rocks. Oo
Avoo’na: Response
Jin’Tauri: try bouncing a signal from over there. ::they pointed in a direction that would allow the invaders to choose whether they would move toward or away from the signals without drawing them towards their equipment.:: Do you think they will follow the signals or do you think they will attempt to withdraw?
oO The real question in this game of pintek and klinar is whether we are going to play as the predator or the prey Oo
