Ensign Yirah - Boring Ensign

After only briefly assisting in engineering Commander Ada and Shedet had come to collect Indrid to help them investigate the deflector dish, following Shedet’s hypothesis.
Ada: Still have your tricorder?
Ada patted the one hanging on her hip and out of the corner of Indrid’s eye he noticed Shedet checking her own.
Yirah: I never leave home with it. ::he joked, patting his own tricorder:: Well... except for all the times that I forget it…
Shedet: Oh! So you can be funny! I was worried we had another boring Starfleet ensign.
Indrid recognized her voice as the other person who had been on the comm, just as he had not been sure how to respond to her then, he once again found himself caught off guard by her. The Orion smiled at him, showing that she was just teasing, but Indrid wasn’t really sure how to respond to the comment. Part of him just took it for what it was, a joke, but another part of him, that is, the Yirah part, suddenly grew very self conscious as memories of jokes that bombed on stage filled his mind. Thankfully Commander Ada spoke up before the silence continued for too long and made things awkward.
Ada: I warned Scott we might steal you back. I'll tell him on our way out. Ready?
The question snapped Indrid out of his thoughts, he stood up straighter and nodded at Ada.
Yirah: Yes, sir. ::he said with a smile.:: I'll follow your lead Commander.
Mara: response
As they turned to head back towards the turbolift, Shedet ended up taking the lead rather than the commander, she looked over her shoulder back at them.
Shedet: ::teasing:: And you two are going to follow this cute butt to the turbolift so we can finally get scanning!
Indrid blinked with surprise at the comment, he wasn’t bothered by it so much as he wasn’t sure how to respond. Different possibilities entered his mind and it took quite a bit of self-control to keep himself from immediately blurting any of them out. He tried to think of what his response would be had he been faced with it before being joined.
Yirah: Uh…
He looked to the ceiling. oO Don’t say anything foolish, you just met these people. Come on, just relax, don’t stress out about it. Bad first impressions aren’t the end of the universe. Oo
Indrid was in the middle of taking a breath when another thought caught him off guard. oO Bad first impressions are one of the hardest things to overcome. Oo His breath caught for a moment and his eyes snapped forward once again.
Ada: response
Mara: response
Shedet: :: mock serious :: Apologies. Cute skirt.
Ada: response
Yirah: Right.
oO Right? That’s all you have to say to that? Maybe Shedet’s right, you are a boring ensign. Oo
Mara: response, if any.
((Turbolift - USS Enterprise))
With the group in the turbolift, Shedet looked between Indrid and Ada before speaking up.
Shedet: Sooo....Yirah...You in medical or sciences? ::gesturing to uniforms:: Hard to tell with this era of uniform.
oO Finally, something I can easily respond to. Oo He thought with some relief.
Yirah: Sciences. I received my degree in Anthropology & Archaeology from Starfleet Academy and before that I received my degree in History from the University of Mak'ala on Trill. How about you?
Ada: response

Yirah: And you Commander Ada? Been on the command track your entire career or did you transfer over from a different division?
Ada: response
