((Corridor - Deck 37, USS Constitution-B))

Once she was done with Zaka, she rushed straight to the lower computer core where the broadcasted firefight had been coming from. The source of the phaser sounds, the source of the explosion, and the location of the changeling masquerading as her nephew. She moved quickly. Her medkit knocked against her leg as she jogged down the corridor.

As she moved through the ship, she had used her combadge to continue monitoring the sounds of the confrontation. Although she had the volume down once she reached the deck in question to avoid giving away her approach. Last she had heard was the sounds of “Rol’Q” tantruming and then insults from what sounded like a twisted mocking imitation of the CO to insult the security team.

G’Renn: Come on, just a little bit further.

She had a phaser in her medkit in case it was needed. Based on the explosion she had heard over the comms, the medkit itself would definitely be needed. Secretly, she hoped that the changeling still needed subduing. She wanted to get some shots in herself. Illogical as it might have been, impersonating Rol’Q was a special kind of evil. Trying to blow up the ship was already comfortably a bridge too far. Taking advantage a report of a missing child (the only reason she could think someone would choose Rol’Q in particular) and potentially putting her nephew at risk of being confused for a changeling was even worse. As she stormed down the corridor she tried to calm herself down.

G’Renn: oO Remember, calm and controlled. Oo

The last thing she needed was to get herself shot by her own side. Or the other side.

((Lower Computer Core - Deck 37, USS Constitution-B))

Anath stopped outside the door and listened. There was talking, but no more firefighting as had been heard earlier. She knelt down and moved forward. She raised a hand to trigger the motion sensor and open the door. She briefly looked inside. Multiple people appeared to all be lying on the floor. They were still alive and moving. But nobody was standing. She stood fully and smiled, realizing what might be up.

G’Renn: oO Oh, you clever people. Oo

She briefly slid one foot forward experimentally. As soon as her toes crossed the threshold she pulled back. It was a feeling she knew all too well. When she wa a cadet, before the luxury of having private quarters with variable gravity plating, all those years on Earth had left her vulnerable to the Homecoming Tumbles whenever she came back home to Vulcan. The sudden reintroduction to much higher gravity. That would explain why nobody was doing anything. Feeling safer, she yelled out an ultimatum for the changeling to identify themselves.

G’Renn: Alright, where’s that monster that thought it was a good idea to steal Rol’Q’s face and gloat about hurting him?!

So much for calm and controlled. But at least that would prove to the others in the room where her allegiances were. Or, more specifically, where they weren’t. Not that any of them appeared to be in much position to do anything about it regardless.

T’Mar/Lystra/Yito: Response

On the far side of the room, partially obscured by a console, was the form of Commodore Rajel. But twisted, broken, and looking like she had been tortured before finally expiring. It was a disconcerting image. But, paired with the completely uncharacteristic words “Jalana” had just been saying over the comms, she knew it wasn’t a true image. Another changeling lie.

The changeling laughed and gave her a mocking smile. Clearly, it hadn’t realized that she knew exactly where Rol’Q was and that taunting her with it wasn’t going to get it anywhere. It also only confirmed that Rol’Q had never been in danger as it misidentified her relationship to Rol’Q.

Rajel: Oh, mommy Klingon has arrived too late. If you wanted revenge I wouldn’t blame you. Why don’t you come over here and we can talk?

Even after hearing it over the comms, the voice of Jalana saying those things made her blood boil all the more. She gripped the strap of her medkit tightly and knew what to do. As she flipped open the cover of the medkit she saw the panic in the evil thing’s eyes. Its features began to boil and morph as if changing forms.

Anath knew what face it was no doubt about to take again in hopes of making her angrier and baiting her into the same high gravity zone where everyone else was hugging the floor. She took the Type-One phaser out of the medkit where she had hidden it and fired. Pinned down by some quick thinking by Lystra and the others with the gravity plating, the changeling had nowhere to go. The heavy stun beam hit it and quickly rendered it out cold. She held the beam on it for a good ten or so seconds, working the beam across the changeling and really making sure it was good and stunned. Much longer and she could risk doing some actual damage or leaving light phaser burns. Finally, she stopped and muttered some choice Klingon insults.

G’Renn: VarghwI' Qovpatlh…

A touch too far or not, it felt good. Some of the rage that was building up was now dissipating. With that business concluded she put the  phaser back into the medkit and turned her attention to the group of Starfleet officers who all seemed to be in a bit of a pickle. She craned her neck to see the people lying off to one side. Looked like Lieutenant Lystra and someone in a gray cadet uniform that she didn’t know. The two nearest the same entrance as here were also unfamiliar.

G’Renn: What’s the situation? Who’s hurt?

Based on a brief sweep of the room visually from the entrance, everyone. Thankfully most everyone seemed to be moving from what she could see. So no fatalities.
