If they could not scare them off, then they would need to act.  Kol’Mana was not an idle sort. Born and bred in a warrior caste, she lived her life in motion, always wanting action, always pushing for a decision, a conclusion, something to satisfy her need to push forward.

Kol’Mana: Then a trap. I have the snares we use for catching chron-tak. If we set them by the geyers, the natural energy flow will enhance the strength and range of the field.

She held up one of the shiny metal discs she held in her pack, it would project an energy-cage when activated.  She had enough to make a space large enough to trap all three new creature-people.

Utan: That… might be acceptable.

Acceptable was enough of an assent for her to push forward.

Kol’Mana: If they retreat I will set up the trap. We can lure them to the correct spot.

Utan: From what I was able to see, they’re worried about the other. So I guess they’ll bring him to safety. Maybe to their transport… we can set them up a few decapeds out of their position. You aren’t planning to hurt them unnecessarily, right?

While action-oriented and willing to fight, the Zinera was not bloodthirsty. She would consider unnecessary violence only a waste of energy and breath – on all accounts.

Kol’Mana: No, once they are caged you should talk.  I care not what the reasons for the creature-people to come here.  They are here where our territory is already marked. They are invaders.

And in her mind that meant they needed to leave.  If they left and once they left she did not care what they did.

Utan: Right. They are,… You get them trapped, I’ll get them talking.

Kol’Mana: Then it is settled. You are good at talking so I will set the trap and then once it is sprung you do what you do.

Utan: Everyone does what everyone’s fit for. Any word from the others?

She shook her head slightly.

Kol’Mana: No. I have not gotten any distress signal, nor have the signalled success. I would take that to mean they are as we are, in the predicament where the creature-people will not leave and yet they have not fought.

Utan: We’ll check with them while on route. Prepare the snares.

She nodded once, and crept forward, tracking the path the trio was making towards the metal wedge. And once they had passed she got to work, setting the snares near the path that they had originally travelled.

Kol’Mana: I have a hope if they come back they will travel the same path as before. I do not think they know the land as we know the land.

In fact from observation the creature-people seemed to be struggling with the constant change of the baby planet. But that was the very reason her people were drawn to it.

Utan: ?

Kol’Mana: I shall run this line to the Geyser-well. That way either they will trigger the cage or trigger the geyser. If it is the latter the cage will be amplified and should still catch them, it will shrink then, but that will not kill them. It might tumble them.

The way the Kameryan technology worked was from an internal power source that could be charged by an external power source. In this case the buildup of pressure and energy release from the geyser would supercharge the devices, allowing for the projected force field to cover a much greater distance than usual. As the energy drained the force field would slowly shrink back, pushing whatever was inside together until it normalized at it’s standard size based on the internal power source.

If the creature-people were smart, they would simply walk with the shrinking field. If they fought it, it would knock then back and push them.

Utan: ?

Kol’Mana: Seven more klecks before I am done.  Here, take my tele-binocs, tell me what they do.

Utan: ?

Kol’Mana: No, we have plenty of time.  See?  I am nearly done, and the trap is ready to snap. With the extra time I will hide it in the earth itself so they cannot see.

Utan: ?

Kol’Mana: Good!  I will be ready.

Utan: ?
