((A Geyser Valley, Northern Hemisphere, Peekaboo))

Lystra gestured for Leran to lead the way back to the runabout so she could fall in at the rear, where she could keep an eye on their guests. Not out of suspicion, but because that was her job as the security detail. She had her tricorder out to scan the storm and gauge as best she could how much time they had. Another roll of thunder and bright flash made her jump. It was almost on top of them.

Perax: The runabout can do that, but Yirah I’ll need you to help. I can get the deflector to shoot out protons or electrons, but I’ll need someone monitoring the ionic imbalance to know how much protons or electrons to release to balance out the static.

Kol’Mana: You run.  Run about.  I follow.

As they neared the Little Crow she sent the signal over her comm badge to unlock it and the rear ramp lowered as they approached. A streak of lightning burst out of the ground where one of the rods were and she watched as it joined with a bolt descending from the sky. And that was all she could see for the moment. The bright flash of the lightning even with her eyes closed. That was stupid. It was like staring at a pulsar without the protective screen of a ship’s viewports. At least her suit’s filter kicked in in time to cause any permanent damage.

Lystra: Stars, that was bright. ::she stumbled towards the runabout:: And I see what you mean about the lightning. I recommend we close the hatch as soon as everyone’s inside.

Yirah: At least we know that the lightning rods are working.

Kol’Mana: move quickly or I will carry you!

Perax: no arguments from me, Lystra.

Utan: Move over the left side, the static is lower there!

((Runabout Interior, forward compartment))

Lystra took off her suit’s helmet and set it down as soon as she was inside, so she could rub at her eyes for a moment. Of course it wouldn’t really do anything about the after image of the lightning bolt, that would just take time but it felt appropriate.

Lystra: I can’t wait to get back to the ship. ::she grumbled:: I hate planets.

Kol’Mana: You have a bigger ship?

Utan: The one our people talked with, right?

Perax: Yes, the Constitution. The ship is too big to take into an atmosphere so we use the small ship we call a runabout. ::to Yirah:: Can you link atmospheric sensors to the deflector and send realtime measurements of ionisation?

Yirah: Can do.

The Boslic looked around worried her comment might not have helped and she shot them an apologetic look. Based on some of their comments she was getting the impression that they cared greatly for the wellbeing of natural processes.

Lystra: Apologies. ::she gave Indrid a bashful shrug:: I was born in space. I’ve lived there my whole life and prefer being on a perfectly environmentally controlled ship, among the beauty of space to planets. I guess you could say, I prefer the harmony and balance of a ship where everything is controlled in a set way to make sure those living on it thrive.

Kol’Mana: So, you live on a ship like one would live on a planet?

She nodded excitedly at that. It was precisely how her people lived.

Utan: But the lack of.... life, is something unnatural. Wouldn't you miss a connection with your home? With your nature?

Yirah: We have an arboretum on our ship.

Lystra: Well for me and my species, that is our home. Our ships are our planets. So the deck plating is like grass for you. The hull, like the sky. But we do have a dedicated place or two on the ship where it’s all nature. Many different plants are grown and flourish.

Perax: That pretty much sums it up. If you want to take a look I can pull up the file, ::and he did::. Here’s a brief rundown of our ship. If you’re truly interested, I’m sure our governments could work out an officer exchange. :: realising that he may have said to much, :: Though I obviously cannot speak for either of our governments.

Kol’Mana: I do not care so much if I am on a planet or a ship.  I am here to protect those under my care. A planet breathes slowly. A ship hums with strong breaths that come steadily and quickly. Each are alive in a different way.

Utan: Using a very broad meaning of being alive.

Lystra: But not an inaccurate one!

She was of the opinion that starships were just as much alive as the people that crewed them in their own way. The artificial nature aside, every ship had a personality and a spirit because of the crew that cared for it. A ship reflected the crew that it carried.

Yirah: How is the ship holding up?

Perax: it’s working. We’ve had two massive lightning strikes in the fields before I got the programme working, but now the lightning is going around us, and what lightning is getting through is much weaker, and is not resulting in a secondary static build up.

Yirah: ::to the Kameryans:: Are storms like this common here?

Kol’Mana: response

Utan: We have interests in this planetoid. I guess your captain and the one of our ship would like us safe and sound. Once our situation is clear, we could expand on our task and our intentions. Until then, please, allow us to be... adamant of revealing details.

Perax: Well, we’ve noticed your interest in agriculture.

Lystra: I’m sure our Commodore would likely offer our assistance in whatever research you’re doing. Studying a rogue planet that thrives like this without a parent star is definitely piqued our interest.

Kol’Mana: response

Utan: As we're here,... Take this :: Ze took a kind of seed from a pocket in hir jacket :: smash it to dust and make the one I incapacitated inhale it. It should bring him up in a minute or two.

She raised a brow slightly but knew Indrid would be the one to decide how to use that.

Yirah: Thank you. I will keep them in this container until we can have our medical team take a look at them. I want to make sure that it's not something that Maramox is allergic to.

That was a good point and since Maramox was their medic who couldn’t examine himself while in a coma.

Lystra: If nothing else, we could fly him over to Cade once the storm settles if needs be.

Hearing the crunch she couldn’t help but smirk when she saw Leran eating trail mix.

Perax: does anyone want some trail mix? I don’t know if it will agree with your digestion. You might want to scan it first to be safe.

Lystra: Sure, we have plenty.

Kol’Mana/Utan: response

Perax: it contains Cashew nuts, pretzels, those wheat crisscrossy things, and a small chocolate candy.

Lystra: They’re a Human snack, from Earth. Called trail mix because it often left a trail behind the person when they were walking. I think.

Kol’Mana/Utan: response

She heard Indrid sigh as he leaned back in his chair.

Yirah: Looks like we're going to be here a while.

Lystra: Yep. ::To the Kameryans:: Since we’re going to be stuck here, is there anything you’d like to know about us?

She figured they might be more talkative if the conversation wasn’t about why either of them were on this planet. And even though they’d previously met the Kameryans, she admitted she still didn’t know a lot about them and apparently, vice versa.

Kol’Mana/Utan/Perax: response

Yirah: I'm Indrid Yirah. What are your names?

Lystra: Lystra. ::she smiled then realized she should probably include her birth name::  Xal’tress. Lystra Xal’tress. Xal’tress is the name of my birth ship.

Kol’Mana/Utan/Perax/Yirah: response

Lystra: Nice to meet you both. I’m Security and Tactical. ::she thought for a moment about what one of them had said before:: I’m a protector for our ship. ::she smiled::

Kol’Mana/Utan/Perax/Yirah: response

Lystra: I’m a Boslic. My people left our home a long time ago to wander the stars because we feel the need to keep moving further and further. So we adopt pieces of other cultures into our own to make it something new.

She smiled, keenly interested in sharing about her people when a call came in surprisingly clear compared to the last communication they had. It was still somewhat staticy but she could hear T’Seva’s voice well enough.

T'Seva: =/\= Constitution to Indrid Yirah =/\=

Yirah: Response

T'Seva: =/\= Oh good. Is everyone alright down there? We're finally having a conversation with the Kameryans in orbit. =/\=

Yirah: Response

Kol’Mana/Utan/Perax/Yirah: response
